When hard-casting Heroes Remembered is more efficient for gaining life, you have a bit of a problem.

More relevant, at least in Modern colors appropriate to this set, would be Feed the Clan. Dinosaurs are pretty big, so the ferocious trigger would be easy to hit, and a lot cheaper than using this.

This is no Exsanguinate, make no mistake but, I think it still has a couple solid homes, most notably, in Licia Sanguine Tribune. Life gain may not win games but, paired with something like Sanguine Bond or Defiant Bloodlord in a Licia or even a budget Vampire tribal list, and it'll be fairly decent. Not bad, not bad at all.
