Samut, the Tested
Oracle Text
+1: Up to one target creature gains double strike until end of turn.
−2: Samut, the Tested deals 2 damage divided as you choose among one or two targets.
−7: Search your library for up to two creature and/or planeswalker cards, put them onto the battlefield, then shuffle your library.
Card Rulings
7/14/2017 You divide the damage as you activate Samut’s second ability, not as it resolves. Each target must be assigned at least 1 damage. In other words, as you activate the ability, you choose whether to have it deal 2 damage to a single target, or deal 1 damage to each of two targets.
7/14/2017 If Samut’s second ability has two targets and one becomes an illegal target, the remaining target is dealt 1 damage, not 2.
7/14/2017 While resolving Samut’s last ability, all of the creatures and planeswalkers put onto the battlefield this way enter at the same time. If any have triggered abilities that trigger on something else entering the battlefield, they’ll see each other.
Oh dear... it gets better:
Samut #1: Get Samut #2 + Bloodflow Connoisseur (or any other free sacrifice outlet)
Samut #2: Get Samut #3 + Mogg Fanatic
Samut #3: Get Samut #4 + Kozilek, Butcher of Truth (or Emrakul, Ulamog, or Vigor)
Sac Mogg Fanatic to dome for 1.
Sac Kozi to the Connoisseur.
Kozi trigger reshuffles himself, the Mogg, and 1st three Samuts back into the library.
Samut #4 repeats from step 2
Or use Purphoros instead of the Mogg Fanatic to do it twice as fast.
I think it's okay to have Samut be bad, and to have her be a bad mythic, but I'm just wondering if there's flavor reasons for her being so bad.
The ultimate is decent but not the best I've seen out there. But for 4 mana, its a decent card that should see some play.
