Scathe Zombies has finally met its match.

At x=2 or five mana this is quite strong. 4 power on two bodies plus killing a low toughness creature. That is value. I don't know if it will see constructed play as midrange zombies would have to be a thing, but it isn't bad. First pick in a draft for sure.

Interesting. So you can get a bunch of Zombies and choose not to target, or give your opponent a ton of Zombies and potentially kill one of their hard-to-kill creatures. It might be worth it if you're running anti-token cards or facing a mirror match, or if you have creatures that benefit from your opponent having a ton of Zombies, but I don't really see the point outside of Commander, and even then, there are better options. I'd rather run Army of the Damned or Empty the Pits if I want a ton of Zombies, and there are countless more efficient options for just one or two.

It would have been so much better if it instead read "Target player puts X 2/2 black Zombie creature tokens onto the battlefield, then those tokens each fight up to one target creature that player controls."

It would let you take out a big creature without giving them too many Zombies or give yourself a horde to attack/block with, and it would be a flavor home run.

That's not how it works. You can target yourself to get the tokens AND an opponent's creature to get -1/-1 for each zombie you control.

You can make x=0 and already have zombies and still kill something, great card

This card is deceptively good. It can essentially be a 1 mana removal spell if you have 3-4 zombies in play. You can go t1 zombie, t2 zombie and t3 this for 3 or t3 another 2 drop zombie + this at 0.
