Dropping that extra text means the rules text on this card is one line less. It looks really clean on cards like this where it makes the text one line, and for other cards that add mana (Jaya Ballard, for instance), it can save a lot of room and keep text at a readable size.
You're not going to add mana anywhere else than your mana pool.
