Transmogrify at least has a random aspect to it and gets you one semi-free creature.
If you think there's ANY similarity in power between Transmogrify and Fires of Invention, you don't understand why that card was so good.
Yes, you can put just one creature in your deck and remove the randomness, but there's easier ways to cheat big things into play. Besides, putting just one creature in your deck and then relying on that one creature to win you the game is not exactly a safe proposition.
