Seriously, though, most simic decks running EV should at least consider replacing/supplementing it with the isle. Having that extra mana turn into a huge beast is a pretty nice bonus in most situations.
it never loses the creature type, the reminder text just claims its not a creature which it obviously is right?
i dont care if im wrong which i probably am still gonna throw the excuse at least once to try and hit someone for 12
and has long as it has slumber counters , it's not a 12/12, nor a creature, you cannot fling it
when there's no counter on it...it's no longer a land and only a creature
it can't be both, it's one or the other
Ruling 205.1a results in the card losing its Creature typing and therefore its Kraken subtyping as well. It will however retain its Legendary Supertyping. Assuming Arixmethes enters the battlefield with its slumber counters on it with no shenanigans, its Card Typing line would essentially read "Legendary Land" and nothing else, no subtypes.
The important thing here is that Arixmethes maintains all of its abilities because the permanent would have no Basic Land subtyping, such as Island or Forest. If one of these subtypings were applied, such as with Song of the Dryads, the card would have the typing "Legendary Land - Forest", lose all abilities, including t: Add GU, and simply gain t: Add G. Imprisoned in the Moon does the same thing without specifying a Basic Land subtype, and thus requires the line "and loses all other card types and abilities."
However, the card behaves very strangely with Blood Sun. As stated 2 paragraphs up, Arixmethes generally will enter the battlefield as a "Legendary land", due to its abilities, which must be in effect for it to maintain it's land typing. Blood Sun will then cause Arixmethes to lose all abilities except its mana ability. With no ability to keep it as a land, Arixmethes becomes "Legendary Creature - Kraken" with PT 12/12 and only the ability t: Add GU. It would not regain its other abilities because they had been lost by an effect, like Ovinize, but with the effect remaining indefinitely, rather than until end of turn.
TL DR; Arixmethes will be unable to attack if it is a land due to its second ability, due to Ruling 205.1a on type changing.
0/10 for not flipping tho.
Of course, if your meta runs it, this will make them think twice about ever casting it.
