Avatar: The Last Airbender features many Legendary Creatures based on the characters of the tv show.  Many characters even have multiple versions of themselves to show the character transformations they went through. With the show’s bending being worked into an MTG mechanic, there are some powerful while flavorful cards that would make for a really great Commander Deck.

With Wicked: For Good coming out this weekend, I’ve got the award winning musical on the brain today. Some of the characters in the musical are familiar, appearing in both Wicked and The Wizard of Oz. They’re larger than life which I think makes them great candidates for Magic: The Gathering.

I’m always amazed when a new set comes out for Universes Beyond with the great attention to detail and care that is taken to honor the original source material.  Avatar: The Last Airbender will feature a bonus sheet that uses art directly from the tv show. That’s unusual but it doesn’t detract from how insanely talented the artists are that brought the rest of the set to life. I’d like to highlight some of my favorite art pieces from the upcoming Avatar set.

With the Avatar: The Last Airbender Universes Beyond set right around the corner, interest in the set is at an all time high.  Over at the r/magicTCG subreddit, on any given day, at least half of the posts are from disgruntled magic players complaining about Universes Beyond. Despite Mark Rosewater insisting that those kinds of posts make up a vocal minority, sometimes it’s hard to see good attitudes amongst the sea of complaints.

Spoiler season is in full swing now and we’ve only got a few more days until the full card gallery for Avatar: The Last Airbender is revealed. While Spider-Man may have left a lot to be desired for many players, Wizards seems to be making things right with Avatar: The Last Airbender.

 

There are a ton of ways to go ‘infinite’ in Magic: The Gathering - essentially facilitating a game state that can never end and giving you a ton of card advantage or board advantage. The entirety of the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man Universes Beyond set has been revealed, and there are some extremely interesting cards included - there’s the stuff you’d expect, obviously, with all facets of Spider-Man’s life represented, but there’s also some deep cuts. And some of these cards are absolutely incredible Commander cards that can lead to absolutely incredible combos.
