Magic: The Gathering: When Is Aetherdrift Spoiler Season?

Magic The Gathering has released a lot of products over the last few years, with the full slate of 2025 still to be completely revealed. With each of these releases comes a series of ‘previews’ for the set in which a select number of people are given certain cards to show off to their audiences, usually cards that will get people who play certain types of decks excited. But the preview period always varies, not only in time period and date, but also in when it ends.

While we’re in the throes of Innistrad Remastered previews, the first of the Standard legal sets to come out in 2025 will be Aetherdrift, which will start to see wider previews towards the end of January.

When To Expect Aetherdrift News

The Aetherdrift story is set to run from January 13 to January 20. While usually the story elements don’t come with previews for cards, very occasionally cards will be included in these posts, so these are worth reading even if you’re only interested in the actual card game itself.

Last week we did get a further glimpse into Aetherdrift, though, with the three planes (and a renamed returning favorite) officially revealed after months of speculation.

In terms of actual previews, though? Those start on January 21 and run until around January 31. While we don’t yet know who will be showing off these cards (and indeed, what cards to expect), usually these previews also include the Commander Decks that are being released for the set. By the end of January, the entire gallery of cards will be available for people to peruse, including reprints of older cards.

The full set, meanwhile, is due to release on February 11 on MTG Arena, with a full paper release happening on Valentine's Day 2025, February 14. Pre-release, meanwhile, is happening a week prior to the regular release of the set, on February 7, meaning Local Card Game Stores will be selling product and pre-release kits from that day onwards.
