Commentary
Our first look at Guilds of Ravnica comes early! We're at peak preorder prices, so everything is so overinflated it's ridiculous. Right now prices are much less a result of monetary worth, and much more a direct indication of hype and anticipation. This table will shrink to half its size within two weeks, and we'll get a clearer picture of what's going to retain value. Individual cards should be weighed for their merit, with price predictions viewed more as gambles for the time being.
The rare Assassin's Trophy is the most expensive card here, beating out all of the mythics for the top seat. This is assuredly inflated, but this card isn't going to go away either. It's removal that's playable in every single format that it's legal for, and follows Abrupt Decay and Maelstrom Pulse in a line of powerful Golgari removal spells. Both see significant play, and Assassin's Trophy is arguing to replace them. Whether it will succeed or not influences its price greatly. It might become one of the top removal cards for Standard regardless, but offering significant Eternal play boosts it to another level.

Commentary
Stitcher's Supplier joins our tables out of nowhere, as its synergy with Guilds of Ravnica takes it to new heights. Its graveyard ability bolsters Golgari's undergrowth mechanic and adds card advantage with Izzet's jump-start spells. Sticher's Supplier could easily become a staple in either, allowing him to remain close to his current price.

Commentary
The rumors of this set's financial death were very premature. This is the sixth week in a row that we've seen solid rebounding, and it's a welcome site. Dominaria was a beloved set for its nostalgia and unique feel, but took a massive financial dive a couple months after its release. It has now mostly clawed its way out of the hole and made up almost all of the ground that it lost. It still remains very top heavy, with nearly 400% hit-over-miss, but even that number is shrinking. We're not out of the hole completely, but we're making good progress.

Commentary
Rivals dips this week, as the uncertainty of a whole new Standard looms over us. With four sets leaving and a new set coming in, half the Standard card pool is changing, and such a large change always brings unpredictability. Rivals has always been a strong set, but it has a completely different playing field to adjust to.

Commentary
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Rivals' uneasy hits this week become Ixalan's gains. There exists a balance between all of the cards of Standard, and as some fall during this precarious period, others will rise. We'll see quite a few ups and downs in the coming weeks, as the massive Standard shift starts to unfold. Remember, Guilds of Ravnica was finished spoiling only days ago, and prerelease is still a week away. It takes time for the meta to unfold, and every change between now and then is merely conjecture.

Commentary
We start off our goodbyes with Hour. The drastic falls we see here are perfectly expected. The set's life in Standard comes to an end, and people are looking to flip all of their old cards for new. As we've gone over the past few weeks, the only cards worth holding on to are the ones that will see eternal play. Pick these up while they're hitting rock bottom prices. It may be several months before you can start to get reliable profit from them, but patience is always a more reliable friend.

Commentary
Five cards see positive change on our table, and all five have something in common: the Standard rotation isn't their death knell. Modern and Legacy have the strongest impact for eternal-worthy card pricing, but Commander should never be overlooked. Anointed Procession will have value for years to come, owing most of that value to its love in Commander.

Commentary
Aether Revolt was a strong set, and will be remembered well. It's finances were fickle, almost entirely due to the presence of the Inventions masterpieces. One one hand, it brought prices down to a more attainable level for the normal player, but on the other it made most of the set's core weak and profitless. Profitable investment became hinged almost solely on Inventions. There's a lot to be learned with the addition of masterpieces, and perhaps the eventual second try will handle the nuances more elegantly.

Commentary
Kaladesh has a very interesting table as we look at it one last time. Everything that remains is playable in one eternal format or another. While depreciation will inevitably occur on some, they will all retain at least most of their value. The fast lands could easily bound back in the coming years, becoming staple lands in various Modern builds. These are the lowest prices we've seen on many of these cards, so don't be afraid to grab them up now.

Commentary
We've had a love-hate relationship with Inventions over the past two years. Three rounds of buyouts divided us greatly. Those who got in early saw massive profit spikes, other jumped on board hoping for a repeat, some were outpriced on what they wanted, and still others were just left scratching their heads thinking we were all crazy. Many of these cards are legendary, timeless treasures even in normal fashion, and these masterpiece counterparts will become truly mythical.
Parting Thoughts...
This is the most tumultuous time Standard ever has, with almost as many cards leaving and joining the format as stay. Uncertainty in the format creates uncertainty in the market, as a card's price is naturally driven by its use. All of the decks that were solid last week have been ripped apart. They'll have to piece themselves back together and adapt to an entirely new field to survive. New decks are coming, and nothing will be the same. All of this adds up to a violent time in the market, where good cards can fall, and cards that weren't worth a second look before coming into their own.
Be wary of anyone who "has it all figured out," but watch what people are building closely. This weekend's World Championships will be a time where the pros discuss the new meta with eachother, so watch any articles coming from them if you want to get an idea of where Standard is heading. Our fist major tournaments to feature the new Standard won't be for another month, with Grand Prix New Jersey and Grand Prix Lille coming this time in October. This is when the format will start to truly cement its new meta. Between now and then, we'll be on uneasy street.
