Commentary
Bolas will not have his reign questioned, as he continues to be the premier mythic in all of Standard. His price tag has inflated the Core 2019 box value a bit, adding over $10 to the average return. Boxes that miss on Bolas still have a decent chance to close $70 with other good cards, so we're far from a one-trick pony here. Last week's spike on Nexus of Fate also remains, showing no signs of a false promise yet.

Commentary
It is befitting that the one card trying to overtake Bolas as the top mythic is Teferi. Their nemetic story aside, both are commanding cards of their decks, and both are mainstays in the top 8. Dominaria rose a bit this week, but that rise was directly from the top cards, which amassed even more of the set's pie.

Commentary
With roughly two out of every three boxes containing Ghalta, the gains here are very welcome. Rivals remains rare-strong, with twice the average box's value coming from rares as it does mythics. This adds a good level of consistency, and with the box's expected value in close proximity to it's cost, even boxes that miss only take slight losses. This isn't quite the same level as Rival's predecessor, Ixalan, but it still makes the set worthy of box cracking.

Commentary
Settle the Wreckage takes another hit this week, as it falls further out of favor. It remains an outlier, however, as the set continues to hold strong. An average Ixalan box contains about $50 in sale-worthy rares, and $10 in mythics. Extending this even further, there are only two rares and a single mythic that cross the $10 mark. The deviation between boxes is the smallest we've seen from a set in a long time. If you're looking to flip a box and aren't sure which set to go for, Ixalan is your most reliable bet.

Commentary
Nimble Obstructionist was hoping for a good showing in last weekend's Pro Tour 25th Anniversary, but there was only a single copy ran on the entire field. Despite this low showing, it's bounced up another 72%, and comes close to quadrupling it's price this past month. Remember, this is a card that's rotating. It's gains are solely from it's Modern presence, so use the rotation to your advantage here.

Commentary
Monogreen Aggro has now risen to roughly 10% of the metagame, and Rhonas rises further for this. The god of strength cares nothing about rotation, and refuses to go down without a fight. Unfortunately, the rest of the set doesn't share his indomitable will, and falls further down the spiral.

Although we see a good bit of red on our table, these are all minor changes and we are still within 1% of last week. As many of our sets rotate away in two months, so too does the last of the Masterpiece sets go with them. It has been an interesting ride.

Commentary

Commentary
Cataclysmic Gearhulk gains $0.16 and begins its ascent to grandness! No, not really. Unless some madman decides to try for another buyout, things will be quiet here until Inventions finally rolls off of our tables. I'll try to keep further jokes to a minimum, but there's not much to say that hasn't been said before, and I doubt we'll see anything noteworthy before October 5th.
Parting Thoughts...
Following last week's Nexus of Fate spike, the issue has become a very hot topic in the community. Pro Tour 25th Anniversary saw six different Turbo Fog decks that each ran a full play set of Nexus, and the issue has since exploded. The player base is quite divided on the issue, with some wanting an immediate reprint, others simply wanting guarantees of no future repeat, and still others embracing this as a reason to buy boxes. A few vocal players have even called for a ban on the card. As I said: highly divided. For us, it's simply important to note that each of these would have a very distinct, and different, effect on the card's price. Wizards has yet to make any official statement on the issue, and that's the part that makes the card extremely unpredictable. I find my way through the market's chaos using math and sound reasoning. I always advise against gambling, and Nexus of Fate is absolutely a gamble.
As an aside future for the coming MMI's: Like I've said above, the next two months will be quite trying for good commentary on the rotating sets. If the commentary is more abrupt than you'd like during this, I apologize. I'd simply rather not try to invent things to talk about, make mountains out of molehills, or rehash the same things I've said over and over.
