This article will track how cards go from release to its time out of Standard, and as long as deemed necessary for non-Standard sets, as well as offer insight into what cards to invest in and what to ignore. The Magic market is a dangerous place, and this article is here to help guide players and speculators through the murky waters to greater returns.
This article will be updated once a week. Currently, this article series is tracking Battle for Zendikar Block (Oath of the Gatewatch, Battle for Zendikar, and Zendikar Expeditions), Shadows over Innistrad Block (Shadows over Innistrad and Eldritch Moon) and the Kaladesh Block (Aether Revolt, Kaladesh, and Kaladesh Inventions). Overview
This week's biggest winner was Fatal Push, which climbed another 3% and continued to defy its rarity symbol. It has now risen to being the most expensive uncommon printed in an expansion set since 2010's Inquisition of Kozilek. Inquisition took over two years to reach Fatal Push's price, however. Even Path to Exile took a few years to reach these heights.
Opposingly, Heart of Kiran took a sharp dive this week. It has been on a roller-coaster of ups and downs since its release, and is in the middle of a downward slump. Given its tendency to spike suddenly, however, I would not count on it to continue to fall.

Overview
Kaladesh's top cards took a hit this week. The majority of the set held its ground, but the mythic rares lost an average of $0.40, dipping down 6%. The blue and green gearhulks both dropped over a dollar. Saheeli came close to joining them with a 7% decline.
Kaladesh's rare slot is still one of the highest despite these declines, as the set's actual rares saw no tangible decline. Kaladesh's booster box's estimated value promises a decent return on investment, and the set's market value remains strong.

Overview
Inventions saw an overall minor rise in value this week, quite contrary to its past trend. Interestingly, the gains were almost purely from Kaladesh's part and were actually largely offset by a decline in Aether Revolt's half.
It's too early to see the set hit it's bottom to rise again, but the upward fluctuation is welcome. Inventions trails Expeditions in value already, so hopefully its descent will continue to be softer.

Overview
Most of Eldritch Moon continues it's slow decline downward, with no unexpected changes. It still boasts the highest rare slot average, and a strong estimated value for having no masterpiece set.
Collective Brutality is the truest of exceptions to this set's slow decline, as this card has consistently risen every week for over seven months straight. Brutality sees both standard and modern play, and will continue to be a relevant card even when Eldritch Moon rotates out of standard. If you've been hoping for it to dip down a little for you to pick a set up, don't hold your breath.

Overview
Much like Eldritch Moon, Shadows over Innistrad saw very little unexpected change. Most cards stayed perfectly on track for their recent trends, and the set fell another 1% like clockwork.
Traverse the Ulvenwald continues to stand as this set's rising star, spiking this week. This spike seems a little strong for one week, however, so I would expect next week's change to be minor. It has been seeing more and more Modern play, so it should continue to rise during the weeks to come.

Overview
Oath of the Gatewatch has actually been gaining speed in its decline. This is odd given that its Expeditions have been maintaining the value for the past couple weeks.
No cards or changes stand out. The decline is well spread out, and anything going against this flow is minor. This makes for a very predictable set, but a very boring commentary.

Overall Summary
The official Amonket spoilers start next week, and we should surely see some movement in standard in response. Saheeli Rai saw a 400% increase in a single day due to only one single spoiled card. While this is one of the most dramatic examples, it nicely illustrates why predictions are near-impossible this week. Anyone guaranteeing you a specific change by next week is selling you snake oil. Will next week pass with little shake-up, or will we see a dramatic change? Either one is entirely possible.

Posted Apr 3, 2017Overall, Magic has stopped being worth it in the money aspect, which is one of the reasons I did quit Magic last month. For a piece of advice, maybe my last, don't invest in Magic at all unless it is for a quick flip. The market is violate and nothing aside of the reserve list is safe from tanking in price. Also, Amonket is shaping up to be a disaster of a set, and not just the Masterpiece Collection.
