This article will track how cards go from release to its time out of Standard, and as long as deemed necessary for non-Standard sets, as well as offer insight into what cards to invest in and what to ignore. This article will be updated once a week. Currently, this article series is tracking Battle for Zendikar Block (Oath of the Gatewatch, Battle for Zendikar, and Zendikar Expeditions), Shadows over Innistrad Block (Shadows over Innistrad and Eldritch Moon) and the Kaladesh Block (Aether Revolt, Kaladesh, and Kaladesh Inventions). There are no current plans to track any promo sets, pack foils, or non-set releases. Otherwise, if it can be opened in a pack, it will be covered.

Overview
This is a good week to be either good with snakes or to be a snake-pusher. Otherwise, we're looking at the tail end of Aether Revolt's precipitous drop towards the sub-$100 mark. Once Amonkhet starts to hit the market, expect some value out of this set, but for now, only focus on those cards you need for events. There are a lot of good cards in this set, but the problem is Wizards' design philosophies leading to one- or two-deck Standard formats and ensuring those cards don't get a home. Hopefully that trend begins to reverse before too long.

Overview
A spike in Chandra, Torch of Defiance is met with several other high-profile cards such as Verdurous Gearhulk cooling off. No spike can last forever, and we're in that pre-spoiler season lull where there isn't much special going on in terms of events, Standard is solved to the best of players' abilities, and attention is elsewhere with the new Modern Masters release.

With nothing from this set providing much excitement for Standard, values suffered across the board. As the previous Standard format showed, there are a lot of powerful cards in Eldritch Moon, but the way Standard is these days, if those powerful cards can't find a home in the one or two top decks, they just aren't going to carry significant value.

Overall Summary
As mentioned above, there aren't that many high-profile Standard events going on, the format has largely been solved, and all eyes are on the Modern Masters release. That means attention has shifted away from Standard for the time being, where it will remain until Amonkhet brings us something new to keep Standard from degenerating into one or two tier 1 decks again. With what we've been seeing lately, it looks like Wizards has no shortage of creative new mechanical ideas. The problem is, of course, whether or not mechanics such as the new split cards are more of delirium or of ingest as far as Standard penetration goes.
