Welcome to The Magic Market Index. This article series documents the price changes of cards currently in print. This article will track how cards go from release to its time out of Standard, and as long as deemed necessary for non-Standard sets, as well as offer insight into what cards to invest in and what to ignore. The Magic market is a dangerous place, and this article is here to help guide players and speculators through the murky waters to greater returns.
This article will be updated once a week, usually on Thursday. Currently, this article series is tracking Battle for Zendikar Block (Oath of the Gatewatch, Battle for Zendikar, Zendikar Expeditions), Shadows over Innistrad Block (Shadows over Innistrad and Eldritich Moon) and the Kaladesh Block (Kaladesh and Kaladesh Inventions). There are no current plans to track any promo sets, pack foils, or non-set releases. Otherwise, if it can be opened in a pack, it will be covered.

Overall Summary
Overall, the financial state of the market remains healthy. Kaladesh is still settling from its prerelease hype-fueled prices, with the floor expected to come within two to three weeks. We're not seeing much movement in Shadows over Innistrad and Battle for Zendikar blocks, with the notable exception of cards in the new Aetherworks Marvel deck stemming their losses and posting slight gains. I would advise continuing caution in investing in Kaladesh until the floor is established, and strongly advise avoiding acquiring any of the Kaladesh Inventions at this time since they're all still in freefall due to market oversaturation. If you're still opening sealed Kaladesh product for singles to sell, I'd advise pricing to move the singles as quickly as possible, as many of the higher-priced cards and all of the Inventions are at terminal velocity in their freefall to the bottom.
Cards to Look Out For
Aetherworks Marvel, Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger, and Emrakul, the Promised End all show modest gains this week due to their 4-of status in the new Aetherworks Marvel deck seen at SCG Open Indianapolis. This deck has a lot of low priced commons and uncommons, and appears to be a strong deck that can be picked up on a relatively low budget. We have yet to see whether it'll be popular enough to push these cards out of the budget deck range, but it's definitely reversing their recent losses.
