This article will track how cards go from release to its time out of Standard, and as long as deemed necessary for non-Standard sets, as well as offer insight into what cards to invest in and what to ignore. The Magic market is a dangerous place, and this article is here to help guide players and speculators through the murky waters to greater returns.
This article will be updated once a week on Thursdays. Currently, this article series is tracking Dragons of Tarkir, Magic Origins, Battle for Zendikar Block (Oath of the Gatewatch, Battle for Zendikar, Zendikar Expeditions) and Shadows over Innistrad. There are no current plans to track any promo sets or other non-set releases. If it can be opened in a pack, it will be covered.

It is something when a $48 card is not the most expensive card in Standard, nor is it even close. Granted, it is the second most expensive. Overall, the set is doing about what it is to be expected at this point, with prices dropping soon after the Pro Tour.
There a couple of real winners, such as Tireless Tracker, Declaration in Stone, and Thalia's Lieutenant, which performed quite well at the SCG event this last weekend. It is expected that U/x Humans and Bant CoCo will be the decks to beat. |

If you were to get a box, this, Dragons of Tarkir, or Shadows over Innistrad would be a strong choice, with Magic Origins being the best, barely nudging out Dragons of Tarkir. |

Overall Summary
The first SCG event happened and several new decks were seen. Bant CoCo reborn, W/B Eldrazi, W/x Humans, and a U/R spell deck took the center for top decks, but the second week will solidify what is good and what is a flash in the pan. Bring to Light was once thought to be the next best deck, and we see where that deck ended up. Stock up on dual lands, humans that see play or have very interesting and good effects, and sweepers.
The Eldrazi decks, both ramp and aggro outside of B/W, did not fare well in the new Standard last weekend, but they are not down and out. The format is still new and there is still another SCG event and the Pro Tour. Vampire madness decks did okay, but not well enough to justify the hype. It is not time to part with those cards just yet, as it will not take much for the Eldrazi and Vampires to rise again.
Cards to Watch
Languish: With the rise of swarm decks, sweepers will be in demand.
Planar Outburst : With the rise of swarm decks, sweepers will be in demand.
Tragic Arrogance: With the rise of swarm decks, sweepers will be in demand.
Lumbering Falls: This creature land will go up.
Tango lands: They are steadily going up, and will continue to do so.
Cards to Avoid
Archangel Avacyn: This card is great, but it cannot maintain that high of a price tag unless it is sees play in older formats. Drop yours while they're hot unless you need them for current or future decks.
Arlinn Kord: Demand for her is purely for her card type and is going to wane until a full deck shows up to give players to howl about.

Posted Apr 19, 2016I know I can be wrong. My Catalog comment not having a similar effect (artificer's epiphany) and a few others like predicting enemy fetches in Dragons of Tarkir. I base my educated guesses (I do not make guesses without their being at some evidence, and if I do, I do make sure I say it is just a feeling) on past movements, what I can tell from my experience as a player and a trader for 14 years (I called a lot of Yugioh cards, like Book of Moon which was eventually restricted) and what I hear in the market. I generally avoid reading other sites for their views because I want what I present to be my views, and not rehashing what other sites say even if I agree with them. So if another site and I say the same thing, then that is really good information that can from separate analysis.
I do not plan on giving EVERY card a comment, just ones that deserve a comment. That means for the most part, Zendikar Expeditions will not have comments.
