I went 2-3 with the WORST.LUCK.EVER.
In match 1, I went up against this guy's girlfriend who was new to the game with a R/W aggro and I was on the ropes the entire match. She beat me game 1 due to mana screw on my part. Game 2 I won, and game 3 I lost...but the fun fact is here is how bad it was. In games 2 and 3, I had a Jace online and was using a Mulldrifter or two in each game. I had all 7 sweepers in the deck (4 Fallout / 3 Infest) and was only able to draw 1 Fallout in game 2, nothing in game 3.....:-/
Game 2 I beat Faeries 2-0. Cruel Ultimatum was MVP after I mulled to 5 and still ended up turning the game around 100%
Game 3 I played Merfolk and lost 2-1. I was able to throw a few terminates and Incinerates at his key merfolk (i.e. Wake Thrasher before it untapped, but was having trouble getting the cards I needed to win becasue I only saw about 2 Drifters and no Jaces.
in the entire match...Game 4 I played Doran and once again, No Jaces....:-/ Game 1 he came down super hard with Harbinger, Banneret, Doran (countered), the snuck another one down next turn, Colossus, then Colossus. Countering by that point was useless and none of my kill spells really could help. I kinda knew I was losing.
Game 5 I played someone with a R/W deck that forced players to draw cards and lose. Game 1, he kept a hand with 1 land, so I had no troubles. Game 2, he was able to get a Font of Mythos and 2 Spiteful Visions online. Even though at one point, I was drawing 5 cards and losing 10 life, he caused the deck to into Hyperspeed and kill him faster. His plan backfired.:D
So yeah, it wasn't the greatest night for luck for me, with the sweeper dilema in round 1 and the Jace hiatus in matches 3-4. I may take it next time I go. I tested the specter last night and I didn't like the way it played, so I think I'll replace them with Plumeveil and try to sneak in another Banefire. Sideboard could also use some Double Negative since Cascade is apparently all over the place.
