Election/Political Thoughts (please no flaming)

Congrats to Obama for making history. The first Afterican-American president (elect).

I really wished that the Republicans ran an Aferican-American before this ellection. And how that would have turned out. Would that person still gotten voted in because of his skin color. Being that African-Americans usually lean towards the left/Democrats when it comes to politics.

I'm not implying anything at all here really. I'm just curious as to what the outcome of that political situaion would be.

As for the Obama hype in general, I am so amazed to all the hype he's gotten over the past year in this campaign; other than the fact that he is an African-American. Is it because of all the smooth-talking he has done here and abroad? Perhaps. Is it the effective-ness of his campaign staff and getting ads/commercials in practically everywhere you look that helped? Most likely.

I think one of the factors is the slogan that he used: Change. I almost cringe everytime I hear that word used. Not because it's an inherently bad term to use (the only constant is change... right?), but when you combine it with what I see so far as empty promises; that's where I become concerned. What exactly will Obama change? What exactly does "redistribution of wealth" mean? What exactly [fill in the blank]?

As far as I know, he's done 2 years in the senate and voted like any other democrat/liberal would have voted on the issues. He mentioned that he learned a lot while being a Community Organizer before his governmental career. What exactly did he learn in that position. What exactly did he do in that position?

Earlier in the day, I heard a sound byte of an African-American woman claiming that Obama is going to make it so that she doesn't have to pay her mortage or pay for gas at the pump (to paraphrase it). I am not trying to imply that this person is a moron. But I will ask this: How is Obama going to realistically do that, hmm? The only way I see that happening is somehow the government really did gain control of the oil companies and rationed out oil as they see fit. Which is starting to sound like communism to me. Same thing with the mortages. The government really takes over Franny Mae and Freddie Mac and hands how whatever the deem fit as what you are supposed to be paying for a mortage. Again, sounds like communism to me or at least, very big government expansion. And who funds this expansion of government? The people will, trhrough taxation.

Now that the election is over and we have a clear winner it seems. I will be paying even more attention to our political climate. My mistake was not paying more attention to it sooner and as well as every other average joe it would seem.

Anywho, I'm gonna go to bed. I'm tired. Take it however you want. I'm not trying to be condescending, arrogant, deceitful, and/or insulting to anyone who reads this. I'm just very tired and a concerned American in light of the election.

With that, I bid you all good night.
