Cryptoplasm Question
Lets say I have Kemba Kha Regent with 3 equipment attached. During my upkeep, may I use Cryptoplasm to copy Kemba then have them both put 3 2/2 cat creatures into play?? And if so, that would mean Crypto would have equipment attached as well. I could then sacrifice those equipment artifacts attached to Crypto if I wanted too???
I know Cryptoplasm could be of better use, just curious.
ps: not sure how to use the links for the creatures. sorry
A few things to note with your scenario.
Copy effects are very particular about what they see. Basically, the only thing they'll pay attention to is the base card and other copy effects. Also, any time a card self-references (like Kemba does) it's really saying "this card/permanent" and will not be looking at similar objects. A more direct example, if a Quicksilver Elemental gains the abilities of a Nantuko Shade, then you can spend U mana to make the Quicksilver Elemental get +1/+1. The other thing to take away from the bit about copy effects, is that if you play Giant Growth on a Squire equipped with a Darksteel Axe and then Clone it, the Clone becomes... a 1/2 with no abilties, no P/T boost, no equipment. Just a copy of the card as printed.
You can target the Kemba with Cryptoplasm. When Cryptoplasms ability resolves, you'll have two legendary creatures with the same name and they'll both die. If Kemba's trigger hasn't resolved yet, it'll still see last-known information and give you your 3 cats. Even if Cryptoplasm had it's own equipment attached to it, those upkeep triggers go on the stack before anything else can occur so by the time it becomes a Kemba it's too late for it to trigger that ability.
Also, if you target a Phantom Nishoba then Cryptoplasm will become a 0/0 and, if lacking any toughness boost from some other source, will immediately die as you don't get 'enter battlefield' effects from the Cryptoplasms ability, just a characteristics change.
Cryptoplasm may be a bit awkward but it certainly gets you digging into the finer rules questions. So props for that!
