With all the spoilers out there, I can already tell where the new Ghoultree has the potential to fit -- right where the Wall of Tanglecord is currently. Probably even bump it up to 3x and drop the Emissary down to 3x. Another big beater that gets stronger the longer the game goes on? Yes please. Even if he is vanilla, casting him for is too sweet.
Here's the image of that:
Moving the second Gnaw into the maindeck has also helped keep aggro (all non-infect, really) at bay. I had a flashback hit for 30 in playtesting online, and that was just fun.
Hopefully this deck can keep improving as more of DKA is revealed. It's finally getting to a spot where even Illusions (now Delver/Pikeblade) isn't as hard all the time. Missteps are huge there.
Ezuri's Archers is actually a really cool idea. Costing only G is a nice touch, and not having to pay each turn to block a flyer is also great. I'll need to test it! True, it makes me all that much more vulnerable to Crusaders, as you note, but I have found my meta shifting much more heavily into Delver decks. It's actually quite frustrating, since that seems to be the one deck I consistently have issues with. (Probably why they're all shifting over, as I can run roughshod over other Tier1 decks, especially with proper sideboarding.)
Which brings us to that topic: Gnaw to the Bone is a beast. Mental Missteps deal with Nihil Spellbombs, Vapor Snags, Delvers, Bears, Surgical Extractions... all sorts of useful things.
Vapor Snag helps to provide the tempo boost this deck is crying for. Once it gets ahead, it's darn near impossible for the opponent to catch up without a Spellbomb.
I haven't had the need to go after the Replicas of late, but they're remnants from when my friends ran tons of Tempered Steel. They still have their uses. And it, combined with Ratchet Bomb, deals with many White variants, be it Angelic Destiny or tokens or what have you.
This deck looks really similar to what I have going right now. The only difference really, is that in place of the 2 Wall of Tanglecords, I have 2x Ezuri's Archers. It trades with Delver of Secrets and kills Moorland Haunt tokens all day. Yeah, it can't do a thing about Mirran Crusader like the Wall can, but not many options in that department, until we hit the sideboard. Another difference is that I'm playing 1 more 1 drop ramper in Llanowar Elves. Other than that man, the deck looks eerily similar! I don't have a sideboard yet, but I'd love to hear your sideboarding strategies. I see you have Snags and Missteps in the side, maybe sideboarding in Snapcaster Mages along with those might work? Anyways, I'd love to hear how the deck is working for you, including the sideboard. Thanks!
Oh.. and that 10/10 seems ok, but the lack of trample makes me really sad! hahah
