In today’s article, I will be discussing some of the unique problems associated with a Magic movie. -

It is hard being a scientist at times when watching anything science related. I always love it when the doctors on House cure an incurable disease like the brain eating Naegleria fowleri and butcher the pronunciation of the name at the same time. My personal favorite was watching the crime show C.S.I and witnessing them getting a result before the mass spectrometer had even sampled the specimen. Groan. At the end day, a person has to just let some of those things go or risk losing all entertainment value. Midi-chlorians. Stop. Stop. Just let it go.

Off Topic: Changing the Standard Rotation
The Standard environment has been with us for a very long time. It consists of the two most recent blocks and core set. This is a fact. The question is, why? Thinking about the changes in booster orders in the draft format, it got me to questioning the rotation of Standard. -

Off Topic: The Legacy of Dune
For quite some time, I’ve been tweaking a Legacy deck that I have affectionately been calling Dune. The most obvious reference is the series of books and that lovable yet campy movie. Is that Captain Picard? I find just watching for five minutes turns into credits rolling an hour later. The name is also homage to the nonlegendary Dune-Brood Nephilim. -
Off Topic: Threat Assessment in Commander
A big pet peeve of mine in a game of Commander is a player's lack of threat assessment. With that said, I feel I must disclaimer such a statement. I don't mind being attacked when I am the alpha at the table. I don't mind being attacked when I have the superior board state. What drives me crazy is when I am clearly not the threat at the table. -
Off Topic: My Quest for a Better Enchantment
Enchantments are not intuitive cards. The card type does not have that Gestalt like quality that other card types do. A dragon very much looks like a dragon. Equipment looks like a sword. A sorcery is a spell. Enchantments… umm… umm… -

Off Topic: Land Ho!
I miss Cranial Insertion. If I got lazy, I had the weekly guarantee that my article would disappear into the Internet abyss. Now I have pressure. I said I was going to make a set in front of the whole world. Failure means mass public humiliation. No biggie. I got accepted to graduate school and everything else that follows. My wife has to find a new job, we have to find a new place to live, packing, forms, books, and etc. My playgroup isn't exactly happy. My determination hasn't wavered, but life has demands.
