Before the Tarkir block, goblins in Magic have always been depicted hairless, which is what makes their hatless-leprechaun-with-sharp-teeth image of today much more remarkable. The first block to ever really cared about making their local goblin population distinct from those in other planes was the Kamigawa block. (I can't say it's Mirrodin because, well, the distinguishing mark there - metal bits in creatures - were not unique to goblins.) Kamigawa featured the Akki, which were derived from images of the Japanese kappa, only with blue eyes.
Tarkir's gremlin-like goblins, however, were not the first ones to have hair - that honor, unless I'm mistaken, goes to the Goblin Matron, which was first depicted in Urza's Saga.

Competitive Goblins ( Mono-Red)
I have always thought that Goblins have an amazing potential to be top tier decks but when playing against control and removal I have always found it to be quite the struggle. I've been playing Magic for two years now and would like feed back from a group outside my friends so here it goes...
By the way, I tend to draw too many lands with this deck which really doesn't need more than
4 so if there is some way to fix this without going to 15 let me know.
And lastly before you argue that I should replace Elixir with AEther Vial, I know but firstly you should know how much those things cost and secondly I had an epic hour long game against a fearsome Blue-Red control because I would draw that card all the time, so in other words nonnegotiable.
