Sarkhan's decent into madness and eventual psychological recovery is a very inspiring story. His ascendance to Magic's second tri-color planeswalker is thoroughly satisfying considering he now serves as a semi-perfect foil against Nicol Bolas, the one who broke him in the first place. Never mind the fact that the addition of blue to his casting cost was dictated by game play than the story line: his new identity opened up new non-red Sarkhan-related spells that we would not have expected since his debut a few years ago.
And this is why I think Sarkhan's Triumph was sort of a miss. While tutoring has always existed in all colors, I've always felt that searching one's library using nothing but red should have some Gamble-like drawbacks. Red has always been great at seeking out goblins and dragons, but what if this card was blue - the tutor king - instead? That would have driven home the Sarkhan's "triumph" even more.
