Hey, thanks for the info, man. Do you have a source for this? I'm not doubting you but I'm wondering if I missed some kind of announcement. Wizards has had some...communication...problems lately, especially when it comes to the digital stuff. Thanks again!
So, I'm sorry if this is already well known, but why does everyone choose to draw first online? I've finished a prerelease and two drafts and every single opponent has given me the play every single time. I understand that sometimes your deck is better on the draw but ten matches?!?
Anyone know if there is a way to choose your own mana in the iPad version? So frustrating...
When you tap on a card, the lands will become highlighted. Keep tapping the card until you see which ones you want. Be careful not to tap too quickly, though, or it will zoom in.
So, I unlocked all the cards in "Main Game" and I have a few notes:
*What the crap is a "Premium Booster"? I have to pay more money to get the better cards? This seems shady to me...
* The load times are absurd. It takes forever to start the program and get into a game. This is not very mobile friendly.
*Why is the card pool this bad, anyway? They were touting that it was supposed to feel like Constructed but it doesn't seem that way at all. Attacking with bears and Hill Giants seems more like Sealed.
*The UI is downright garbage. This game was not made for a touchscreen. Navigating the menus and targeting anything is a nightmare on my iPad.
*Another big selling point were the Dual lands. While the AI gets to flaunt stuff like foil Tropical Island and Sacred Foundry, all you get are Guildgates. Just Guildgates.
* For some insane reason, you have limits on cards. You can only have four of each common, three of each uncommon, two of each rare and one of each mythic rare. That awesome Griselbrand or Brimaz is the only one you're getting. Don't get your hopes up.
That said, it does let you play Magic anywhere. Having a seemingly limitless number of decks is quite nice and creating them is pretty easy. I'll keep playing it but it could have been a lot better.
I've now unlocked all ten decks. They seem to be connected to the "Explore" nodes on each Plane. Seems like they unlock a random deck, though, so I can't say for sure. Also, I completely agree that the UI is horrible on an iPad and it sucks battery life like crazy.
I came looking for the same answer...none yet. I know for a fact you can unlock other starter decks because I've done it for two of them...though the game didn't bother to tell me when that happened, much less why. But it can be done! Under notifications, it mentions "archtype unlocked," but again, no word on what I did to do so.
Yep, same thing happened to me. I unlocked the U/B and U/G decks but I have no idea how/when.
So, I'm at the point where I have to face the Sliver deck and my U/W Control deck just can't cut the mustard. I'd like to try another one but I don't have the cards for anything that's reasonable. How do I unlock the other "Starter" decks? Is there something I need to buy? Some challenge I need to beat? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I have yet to find a counterfeit that's truly undetectable. A lot of it comes down to the fact a lot the counterfeits don't have the best source images to use. They tend to over look little things. Then there is the card stock, the finish, and weight of the card stock. The best counterfeits I have seen start with a dot by analysis of the original card. To find the algorithm for the CYMK dithering pattern and the proper order to apply the CYMK layering. Then you need the ability to make printing plates, digital printing technologies use different methods with are all easily noticed under magnification, and are distinct from an offset print. The easiest aspect to copy is the paper for mass produced counterfeits. It's simply 300gsm corona finished blue core playing card stock, but the catch is you have to buy whole truckload (like several tons) since the card stock is not generally sold in small quantities. If you have a large enough order of card stock from a paper mill you can start specifying things like ash content, color, brightness, smoothness and gloss, coat weight, porosity, and fiber orientation. All these properties are easily measure with a microscope and a few other tools to have the paper made to spec. Most counterfeits will never get to this level of detail.
Wow. I had no ides there were so many variables in playing cards! How do you know all this stuff, if you don't mind me asking? Are you in the printing business?
Just turned 30 in April. Married but no kids (yet). I don't have the time to keep up with Standard but I try to get to FNM for a draft at least twice a month. I was quite a competitive player from Onslaught-Fifth Dawn. Even made to PT once. Now, I just let my inner Johnny dictate my deck.
This writing down revealed cards seems really dumb to me. We already have tokens, counters, mats, sleeves, emblems, coins, dice, and life counters involved why are we bringing a pen and paper into the game? And can't you pick your cards back up the instant they pick a card to discard as they essentially resolved the card at that point? I hate this sitting for 2 minutes while they write a grocery list of your hand it's really annoying. It seems like you are taking skill out of the game, if you're playing thoughtseize you should learn the capacity for remembering cards.
You do understand that pen and paper is the preferred method for keeping track of life totals, right? Also, dice and counters are usually the same thing and coins are very rarely relevant.
Sorry, but your opponent is 100% allowed to shuffle your deck. In fact, in some tournaments, it's required. That said, if your opponent is being too careless with your cards you can call a Judge about it.
