Do you have a splashed deck or are you mono green? The issue with giving Elves Shroud is that Symbiote and Quirion become a lot less useful at that point. Personally white offers two wonderful cards. I do not have the names of them right now but one gives your creatures Protection from Red and the other Protection from non combat damage.
The option I go for personally is to play discard and just race. That is my game plan and it works well for me.
You can return your elves with Wirewood Symbiote but you can't untap them.
To play combo elves you need to know how your cards interact each other and the battle tricks.
Wirewood Symbiote + Whatever elf = pseudo Maze of Ith, you can block an opponent creature with your elf and return it to your hand. Also, you can protect your elf from removal.
Wirewood Symbiote + Elvish Visionary = returning Elvish Visionary to your hand and replaying it you can generate card advantage. Also, you can return Visionary in your opponent's turn so you can draw 2 cards in your turn.
-spooky- is right if you play a mono-green non-glimpse version of elves with a lot of untap effect is better to cut Birchlore Rangers for Elvish Archdruid.
Priest of Titania is better than Elvish Archdruid because she can be put on the battlefield on second turn with the Green Sun's Zenith. If you wanna play Quirion Ranger you must play Dryad Arbor, you can block with Dryad and return it to your hand with Quirion in the same way you can block with an elf and return it with Wirewood Symbiote ;).
With Wirewood Symbiote, Priest of Titania or Elvish Archdruid and Elvish Visionary or Sylvan Messenger you can make a good CA engine. If you have Green Sun's Zenith put only a single copy of Ezuri or Joraga Warcaller and attack for the win with a horde of elves with trample.
Wirewood Symbiote + Elvish Visionary = Good CA engine. Also you can return an elf to play it again under beck effect or up storm.

You can replace Birchlore Rangers for Wren's Run Vanquisher.

Quirion Ranger + Dryad Arbor = pseudo Maze of Ith if you block with Dryad and return it with Ranger.
If your opponent doesn't disrupt your play you may be able to cast Emrakul on turn 2 or 3 if you can combo.
