I have one more question. I just noticed on the Evolving Wilds land card that if I tap it, I scarifice it and do what it says. I also thought I would get mana from this if I don't scarifice the card. Since it doesn't say I get mana, can I? Same for Grasslands can I get mana for it if I don't choose to use the special power?

Or does it have to be like something like Ghost Quarter where it says to tap it to get a 1 for it.

Thank you very much guys greatly appreciated. So "basic land" I can have unlimited numbers but the "land" cards I can only have 4 of the same name.

So an example is Isolated Chapel. I can only have 4 of these but I can have up to what ever I want then as long as there is no more than 4 of the same type correct?

So I can have 4X Isolated Chapel, then 4X Hinterland Harbor for example correct?

I was told in about a 60 card deck you should have about 22 or so land cards. I don't know if this is basic land cards. I am new so not sure what this all means.

I believe a basic land card is just the normal land cards with pictures on them for a certian colour. I have other land cards wich is just named "land" not "basic land" and they are black, silver, and gold. They also say extra stuff on them. I have about 20 or so of them.

So can I use all 20 of them in my deck as land cards or is the 22 or so land cards in a deck suppose to be "basic land" cards and the "land" cards are counted towards the other 48 or so cards in your deck?

I am trying to make a deck for fun and since I go by what is "cool" or the pics I like, I like these "land" cards and want to use them. I am not sure in what catagory they are in.

Also what is the ratio of land cards you should have? 20/40 22/38? What is your opnions on that? Also if using multiple coloured deck, how do you pick your lands then?

Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

Ok, now I am getting a bit confused now. Can you guys please explain or please show me where I can go to read up on this? Shuffling I know, but now there is different terms for shuffling, that I never even herd of.

I guess hand over hand is the nomral one that I did as a kid, but now pile shuffling, riffle or mash shuffling? I just don't understand extaclty how you do this, and how do you do it without damaging or someone damaging your cards?

While I am new to magic, I do say manaweaving IS cheating. When I played a game agaisnt my son, he kicked my butt because I didn't have any mana cards show up for a long time, then only had 2 during the entire game.

Couldn't play nothing. So I lost. Next game, I made sure I split up my mana to get better for the next game. I got better results. So Yes I did cheat (didn't think it was at the time) because I was able to alter the result of the draw since shuffling for 10 minutes, and still got poor results.

Again, doesn't matter how many times you shuffle a deck, there are people out there who can still cheat. They can still predict when and where a card will show up, just like in poker, or any other classical cards.

For those who say "shuffling" the deck will randomize the set, then you are just looking foolish yourself, then why "shuffle" the deck in the first place then if you can't alter it?

So, either Shuffling the deck randomizes the cards or it doesn't. If you have place the cards or manaweaving (is that what it's called?) then that means shuffling doesn't work.

So as others have said, it's either, cheating, or a moot point that doesn't make a difference and then shouldn't be done.

I finally got a Deck Builders Toolkit from suggestions on this forum. I saw this card glimmerpost in a booster pack and thought it was ruined because someone wrote on it. Then I looked at it and saw it could be the authours autograph.

So now coming here and I see that on stats for Glimmerpost, and it has the exact Cm in the bottom corner of the pic. So I can see now it's not his autograph but his signature.

So I am just making sure now. On the computer, the signature looks like it's printed but on the card it's self it actually looks like ink from a pen.

So what I am asking is, is this normal? Did I get my hopes up for nothing?

So is there a legal rule for this?

I think just like in poker, people know how to shuffle a fixed deck. So basically "reseeding" is cheating for some people who know how to shuffle a fixed deck. Also how can you prove you are not "reseeding" non land cards?

Even reseeding is a form of fixing. If it's cheating, I am not sure since I do not know the rules very well, but you are favoring the deck in your favour, no matter what you do.

Again, it can be legal, but you are doing something that is not intended, I believe since Magic from what I gather, (no pun intended) is to be a randomm type game. You are making the game less random even though you are shuffling.

But then again, after a game you will have Lands in one big section, so I can't see how this is random either.

I say "re-seeding" Land cards only is just and fair. It's the non-Land cards you have to worry about people re-seeding.

They do stack though right? so if you have 3 +1/+1 coutners the end result is +3/+3 correct?

For a moment, I only thought the top card is used and the rest is discarded then.

Uh, still reading this thread. Still talking about a strike? You do know that the Magic cards that are in the Brick and Morter stores are already sold. You know that right? Wizard/Hasbro already has their money.

So if you went on strike, all this means is the B&M stores have onsold stock. So when the "strike" is over and you keep buying stuff, it's the B&M store that has to get rid of the unwanted stock.

This will not effect Wizard/Hasbro at all. No if people stopped buying Magic that would mean the B&M stores will not order and buy, then and only then will Wizard/Hasbro feel anything.

All a one month strike will do is make the B&M store have unsold stock. Wizard/Hasbro already has the money for that stock so wouldn't feel anything that is unsold.

So basically this would have to be a year long strike. If you really are that upset, you may just as you say, buy other stuff from the B&M store and forget Magic.

It seems like Games-Workshop is up more your ally then. :p

*edit* You do know, when you go on "strike" you are camping out all day, all nite with placards chanting slogans and what not. When it's cold out, you are still out there "picketing the lines" to prove your point. So easy to say go on strike at the comfort of your own home. You are being invisible doing nothing. Now why not buy a plane ticket and camp out and picket Wizards Headquarters then? Now that is going on strike.

I am new to Magic. So I do not understand why people are upset with the changes.

So the only thing I can ask as was mentioned, is, "what is wrong with things being cheaper"? For me coming into magic, I like things being cheaper, so what is wrong with that?

I disagree Gh0st, I wouldn't aggressively ask him. If being passive doesn't work, I would leave it at that. I would respect his decisions and leave it at that.

Being aggressive can upset his cousin and that could put a rift between their releationship. His cousin could take offence that he is trying to change him and might not want to play and hang around him anymore.

As I said, I would just ask him for it. If he says no, then ask, what will it take for me to have that certian card because you really really want it. Maybe buy him 3 or 5 booster cards for him since he seems to like them. So instead of a one on one trade or money being exchanged, get him a booster for it.

After that, just accept and respect his decision.

Again how would you like if someone kept asking you or pestering you for a certian card that you do not want to give up. Then you might know how your cousin feels then. So please respect his decision. Smile

Thank you vyperesque for your explanation. It has helped alot.

So the only thing I do not understand is, why say add 2 +1/+1 tokens, wich would make for eg a 2/1 card, to a +4/+3 card. Why not just say add a +2/+2 card instead?

Would it be because as you say, the +1/+1 will cancell out the -1/-1 and will there for still be a +1/+1 counter on the 2/1 creature then?
