Does everyone think we really need Mox Opals for this build to succeed? I don't see their value outside of the beginning to get Glint Hawk online, which can be easily done by Ornithopter, Memnite, and Accorder. We'll have to run 4x of the first 2 anyway, and we're running Mono-White for colors, so the Mox seem like such an unnecessary expense.
I need to test it out with my Glint hawk engine see if it is worth running or if they should just be plains. It just seems like it opens us up for some crazy starts with Hawks and Skyfishers as soon as you hit Metal Craft.
And is it just me or is the only metal craft spells i'm loking at seem tobe etched champion maybe and Dispense Justice for this white deck besides the aforementioned Mox. I just want the mox in here so I can have insanely busted starts. I want to go Thopter, Nite, Plains, Mox, Tap mox, Hawk, play Mox, Glint Hawk Idol. Turn two glint hawk picking up mox, play it, plains tempered steel swing for 11, 8 of which is in the air.
Or Start swinging with a Glint hawk early and wait to get a MyrSmith down for a ridiculous number of Chump blockers.
I also think we still need Student of Warfare, as that gives us great openings with every creature we run (as why we should keep Steppe Lynx IMO).
Student and Steppe lynx are both so good I want to try and find room in my deck for them... but I think I'm going a different route I guess for this deck... Man I still want them in anyway. Being able to swing for 3+ on turn 2 is so key. Lynx can bash a few times but without Knight of the White Orchid I feel like the kitty may need to sit on the side lines for a minute while i see if I can do something with Glint Hawks. Students are so good I want to find room, but they were soo much better when I could tutor for them with my Ranger of Eos. And when I'm trying to hit Metal Craft turn 1 or 2 it makes it a little harder to run low cost guys who aren't robots unless they're hawks.
My currant Merfolk list is:
Creatures-22
4 Cursecatcher
4 Lord of Atlantis
4 Coralhelm Commander
4 Silvergill Adept
4 Merrow Rejerry
2 Kira Great Glassspinner
-Spells-16
4 Stand Still
4 Aether Vial
4 Daze
4 Force of Will
Land-22
4 Mutavault
4 Mishra's Factory(because I have no wasteland, And they can be really tricky. people don't always see it coming.)
14 Island
With a Sideboard I can't remember right now.
It plays pretty solid... If I can grab some wastelands on the cheap I might just to have the deck a little more aggressive when I have a Vial in Play.
Lots of fun tricks With Hawks Fishers and 0 Cost artifacts, I keep hoping for really really busted opening hands. I can't wait to test this a bit. Some quick starts, lots of evasion and an engine that gets free activations on GH Idols and MyrSculpters. Those Myr will either clog the ground or be beat sticks with a Tempered Steel out. 0 Cost artifact critters seem good in a deck where they can bee 3/3's or 2/3 Flyers off the top and I'll have mana up and hopefully equipment ready to attach. Low land count means you'll only be hitting more to make the deck go as the game progresses. And hopefully by the time I have to I can dispense justice for 2 as I keep beating face in the air. Glint Hawk is my new favorite 1 drop and there being a 2 drop form of it that dodges wrath and a bit of removal, with free ways to turn it on, or a cheap upkeep of one W is pretty nice, as is it's getting pumped by the Tempered Steel. And Should I be running a couple Overseers in here too?

It has occurred to me that I maybe trying to be too cute. But it has some cool card interactions and some straightforward ones. Has the possibility to just blow some people right out. I'm looking forward to seeing what this does as I proxy it up to fish bowl and test. I'm going to see if I can work the kinks out of this... or if I should go with a more Artifact heavy Lodestone Golem build. The only thing I don't like about the deck already is multiple Mox hands... I wish there was something we could do about that.
The most recent white card you mentioned there is from NEMESIS.
If you look at the 6-0 decks from Worlds, you'll see that they're all white attack decks like white weenie or WR Reveillark, or Faeries. Which is U/B.
No monocolored decks can "stand" except for white weenie. That's just a function of the ridiculous lands they've been printing.
This Memory Lapse seems pretty mediocre to me. Just look at what happens to counterspells that you can't cast for 2 mana. People are playing Broken Ambitions just because it counters on turn 2. The step between 2 and 3 in Magic is gigantic.
Nor is this card very good in late game control matchups, because it does nothing about inevitability.
There's nothing quite like delaying Wrath a turn long enough to get lethal damage through. Its a huge tempo hoser and if you are casting it in a white aggro deck (Kithkin) chances are you are swinging in for at least 4 or 5 in that extra attack step.
I think Lapse at WWwould have been toooo good for the aggro white player. It would be a Memory lapse you can't splash...and so damn good for the WW player who hits his turn four and flips this card up. Drop your 2 Drop pass the turn, and try not to smile to much.
Hell With a figure and Path in the format as well, Lapse at two would be an insane turn 3, as you play control, with the ability to pump your figure and have enough mana for critter removal as well.
I think Lapse is going to see some play in constructed White Aggro Decks. A Lapse after dropping a Figure and a Knight is a tough pill to swallow for any deck in the format. And Imagine if you have two in your hand? You Pause the game for a turn and get another attack step for three.
Seems pretty good even at three....and at two I think we would have cries of outrage from some and also cries of joy from WW players everywhere.
This just seems like one of those cards that is just going to swing games more often than not. You get to force the sacrifice when you want and it's probably going to be for at least 1 or 2 here. Free Edict's as it has been said in this thread a bunch of times, are very good. Especially as you drop an evasive win condition into play.

-2: Until end of turn Creatures you control gain: If this creature deals damage to a player, that payer must discard a card.
-5: Draw a card, target player sacrifices a creature,Nicol Bolas deals 4 damage to target player.

Actually, MaRo said there would be a 4cc rare White card with four lines of text... add anything to that one and you are golden... except for the fact there won't be any enemy hybrids
There won't be any enemy hybrids in THIS set...maybe we will see that in eventide.
Armageddon would be at the top of the list. Followed by a White Memory lapse. And any kind of 2 power critter (a kithkin that is good without needing other kithkin would be awesome).
Kith Knight W
Creature-Kithkin Knight
When Kith Knight comes into play each opponent gains 2 life.
First Strike
2/1
Or something to that order.
Really what I want above all else in magic, is for white to be good again.
New Planeswalkers. Maybe with lower casting costs and loyalty but something nice to get quick repeatable effects.
Seeing as an Elemental Tribe Land has already be spoiled, a Kithkin and Treefolk Tribe land isn't much to ask is it?
I would like to see Multicolored cards that have multiple creature types based off of the class system. For instance a Kithkin Merfolk Solder card that features two creatures in the art(a Kith and Mer). This would give Mixed tribal decks a leg to stand on as well as push the Class theme of the new set.
The school master seems like an okay card, but not the kind of merfolk Im interested in. I don''t want engine cards, I want some cheap beaters for my merfolk deck.
