I'll echo what everyone else is saying and encourage the TC to go to another store. There's a card store in our town with ridiculous prices, after two visits we said forget it and went to a cheaper, much much more friendly place. We haven't looked back since.
Interesting take, but I feel iffy about the Fiend Hunters. If you took those out I think the mana base wouldn't be as stretched out. I understand why they're in there, though.
Also what's up with the Townships? They're good, but I feel they don't fit the deck.
I have two in my sideboard against my friend's G/B Pod. It stops Massacre Wurm, Skinshifter, Solemn Simulacrum, and Acidic Slime. It's not the end-all-be-all, and it definitely doesn't shut the deck down, but it can help if used right.
So, I got some metamorphs and put put them in, we are good there.
I played a few games against Solar Flare and couldn't win a game. The closest games I had were stil him using Oblivion Rings, Days of Judgement, or straight out countering all of my relevant creatures until he dropped a Dregskol Reaver and Grave Titan. Every threat I threw out there (including 2 Skaab Ruinators) were dealt with.
What would you guys suggest for this? It was kinda disheartening. My decklist is pretty standard give or take a few card (only 2 Metamorphs and running 3 Boneyard Wurms).
Is this just a bad matchup, bad draws, or am I just a bad player :P?
This is a bad matchup, but that doesn't mean you can't adjust things to make it somewhat easier.
Like Blueish Green said, just slow down your play. Think about what your opponent is thinking, what they might have in their hand. If you think they have Surgicals be careful what you dump into the graveyard. Don't drop multiple threats if you think they have a boardwipe or killspell. If they tap out, exploit the **** out of it.
Like I said, it's a bad matchup, you won't have any silver bullets against control, while they might have plenty. Just keep grinding it out.
I'm thinking about changing Viridian Emissaries into Sylvok Replice in mb. There's almost always something to destroy, and actualy, you can cause a bomb sac with this. Really useful.
Personally I wouldn't run Replicas maindeck, because around turn 3-4 I want to drop a Splinterfright and start winning, especially in the first game where I want to RTSD.
On the other hand I can see it maindeck, especially if your meta is Sword / Anthem heavy. Try it out and see what happens.
My meta is stragne for you probably. We have 2 RDWS, 2 UB Controls, 1 Venser Lock, 1 UB Zombies, 2 monoW Humans, 1 WRR, 1 Flare, 1 Puresteel Palladin Deck and some other, mostly homebrews. So, what do you think could be a SB for that meta?
Your meta sounds pretty similar to mine actually. RDW, the same two U/B control players, that guy who ALWAYS plays Venser lock, Humans, and a lot of tribal and random stuff.
First off I strongly advise you to fit Mental Misstep into your sideboard somehow. Yes, it's a spell so it hurts the creature count, but having just the possibility of stopping Nihil Spellbomb gives you a fighting chance against anyone running it.
Against Venser lock, maybe try more Beast Within to kill him? Honestly this is personally one of my worst matchups, so I don't have a lot of advice aside from the obvious "take those Gnaws out ASAP".
Postmortem Lunge is great in the U/B control matchup, if you get the chance to bring back a Cagebreakers when they're tapped out, go for it. If you're also getting hit by a lot of kill/counters, maybe try Autumn's Veil? It's worked for me.
Red deck...play a Gnaw and you remove all their steam. Make sure to side in Grudges for Shrines postboard.
A lot of this is obvious stuff I'm sure you already know, I'm just thinking aloud. If I think of anything else I'll let you know.
EDIT: Just remembered something about Mono-White Humies. Grim Lavamancer works wonders killing Mirran Crusaders and the ilk, and Sylvok Replica is very useful for killing Anthem effects. If you're having trouble with the matchup try consider both of these cards.
I didn't realize you could get lands with Tolaria West, I feel slightly dumb not thinking about that. And I'm a little iffy on the idea of Signets too, thus why I asked. I have a few fetchlands so I'll probably run those instead.
Overall I like the decklist though, being budget-concious I'm going to use it as a base and play around with it a little. Going to try Windreaver or Magister Sphinx over the Trisks most likely
I'm really interested in this deck idea and will definitely be trying it out.
My only worry is the mana base, I know Mulch is very good and probably helps, but everything just feels stretched too far with the extra inclusion of black for Lingering Souls flashback and Unburial Rites hardcast. I know those are both minor parts though, but I'm still leery about it.
I'm sure it'll work fine once I actually try it out though. Shame that ***** Elesh is so expensive now
Needless to say I'm glad I got those quickly
It's vulnerable to lolTragicSlip and the like, but still. I'm definitely going to try it out.

I wouldn't particularly suggest it though

Only thing I'm interested in is the Path to Exile, almost everything else is trash
Chapin might be playing a version of Splinterfright at GP Nashville this weekend
Might Sylvok Replica be better if you're want enchantment destruction? It does double duty as artifact blowup, and it keeps your creature count up.
Then again he does cost 3+1, so if you're worried about sheer mana cost, Ray is better.

I have some questions about card choices in the deck, if you're willing to explain to a scrub Modern player.
-Why is Tolaria West in the deck when from what I see there's no 0 cost spells?
-Why were the Trisk bros chosen as finishers?
-Why signets?
