Put in Nyxthos if you plan on doing ramp. if you want to do a RUG token deck, put in Master Biomancer, makes all your late game wimpy creatures actual threats. put in Cyclonic rift for your board wipe, if you plan on ramping big and early then you will have no problem overloading it. Also I would try and run a mana dork of some kind, ideally one that produces mana of any color or can untap your lands, mainly because you only have 3 lands that will come into untapped on a consistent basis. This is just my take on it, hopefully i gave you some good advice.
Ya forgot to put assemble the legion in there, can be very scary with the Forge god, but to be really effective it has to be pretty late in the game, and by that point i should already have it won. But I will def sideboard that, and then most likely main board it. Molten Birth I'm a little more skeptical about
I have thought about him a lot actually. I was thinking about replacing Champion with him. And since i'm not really going for white devotion I think he will work really well, I think I would need more auras to get full potential out of him. I'm also trying to figure out a good two drop for the deck, since I am going more of the enchantment route instead of pyromancer. any thoughts?
So ever since I saw Purphorus and his shock ability I have wanted to abuse the hell out of it. first thing that came to mind was a combo of Ajani's chosen, Purphorus' hammer and the forge god himself. I realized that it was too slow to rely on that. So i started taking it in more of a young pyromancer instant/sorcery boros deck, but decided against it. I love the combo of dropping an Elspeth after a Purphorus and dealing 6 to the face while getting 3 1/1's. I was wondering if you guys could help me out a bit.
the build right now
4x Soldier of the Pantheon
3x Hopeful Eidolon
4x reckoner
3x Purphorus (core of the deck)
1x Heliod
4x Stormbreath
2x Elspeth
4x Lightning Strike
2x Hammer of Purphorus
1x Spear of Heliod
2x Legions Initiative
2x Aurelia's Fury
2x Boros Charm
2x Etheral Armor
3x Magma Jet
2x Chained to rocks
Rhox Faithmender, Nighthawk, Thragtusk, Ghost Daddy, Griselbrand, Disciple of Bolas, even Deathrite. I feel that there are enough creatures and resources now that a solid Junk Lifegain deck is possible. Was wondering if you guys could give me some help in building it?
tormonds crypt maybe? it wont slow down your tempo and wont hurt your graveyard at all, so you can still use your flashbacked LS and get more use out of Treasury thrull.
Or if you really want you can run Deathrite. so when they play Snapcaster and bring something back just exile it and make them take 2
When you go against aggro take out the underworld connections. it slows you down and paying a life to draw a single card against aggro is a bad idea, especially since you don't have a lot of early game bodies or control. replace the underworld connections with Pillar of Flame.
Or instead of Pillar use Orzhov Charm. It will work well with doomed traveler as an instant reanimate, plus you get the 1/1 flyer when it dies. also it will allow you to kill any creature, and aggro deck creatures arent that strong so you wont be taking that much of a hit. Also you can bounce your Conscripts and play them again (or your Primordials when your playing against slower decks).
I don't know why you aren't running Lingering Souls. its an amazing card and works very well with this deck. You can discard it with Faithless Looting, and it gives 4 creatures to either chump block with, attack with since they have flying, and a bunch of ammo for your aristocrat
Any of those cards will greatly increase your chances against aggro decks.
Personally I never liked Reforge the Soul. Ya its a great discard and draw card, especially for what you want to do. I would just run 4 Faithless looting, you will have 8 discard outlets then.
I hear ya on being faster and ya not having the control that i needed in the G/W deck really hurt me. Aristocrats is scary. One kid at my meta pulled off an infinite combo with by exile his Angel with Fiend hunter and then sacrificing it to his Falkenrath. Nothing I could do. The way i was going to go about it was by running a bunch of exile spells. Pillar, Rest in peace, sever the bloodline, slaughter games. I feel like that would give me enough control to really mess with their flow.
Im trying to use G/W or B/R since i have all the dual and schocklands in those colors.
My meta has now been absolutely dominated by Human decks. Esper humans, Naya human reanimate and Aristocrats. I just cant seem to beat them. I was running a Selesnya Midrange deck and would dominate the early game. It was once they either did a board wipe or dropped an Angel of Glory's Rise that I just couldnt come back from.
Any suggestions to help beat these decks? I was thinking of either going Junk or Naya.
Alright everyone I need some help picking a general. I've been trying to make a new EDH deck for a while now and I'm having a tough time finding the right general. I want this deck to be very focused around the general and trying to get that 21 damage as quickly as possible. I also would like the deck to be mono colored. I was thinking of using Zo-Zu and making it a land destruction with goblin sub themed deck, but then went away from that. Then i was thinking of using Geth. I would also like to try to make this deck on the cheaper side, a little low on funds right now, but i would also like to try and make it as consistent as possible. All input is appreciated. Like I said the main focus of the deck is all about the general and dealing damage with him as quickly as possible while keeping the deck mono colored. Thanks everyone.
The best Scion deck article I have seen. I originally wanted to make a Bladewing deck b.ut then I realized how much better Scion is. That being said I was wondering if you could give me some help on my deck build. My fri
Ends and don't run planes walkers in our EDH decks, weird I know but we like it. Because of that I ask you, what would you substitute the planes walkers in your build for?
fervor and warstorm surge are must for the deck. I was also going to use some extra attack phase cards. that way once im able to get rakdos out i can hopefully hit them for more damage. after looking at more cards im thinking about going away from the reanimate theme more and more, and going more towards ETB enchantments/ creatures
thanks guys, but i would really like to try and find away to do rakdos with dragons. I think i will do the Bladewing deck as well since i love reanimate and dragons.
Hey guys so I'm trying to make a Rakdos deck with a dragon subtheme. I know its overextending myself into a very easy board wipe but i plan on using my graveyard to my advantage, using cards like Patriarchs bidding and Balthor. I know that I am going to need a good amount of small quick creatures to get the damage in to cast Rakdos, but I also want to be able to play the deck without putting too much importance on Rakdos. Any input is appreciated. Also i would like to try not to spend too much on this deck, as i am a little tight on funds.
i currently have a B/R one. I bought the graveborn deck a while ago and then turned it into my own. I was the first one to play reanimate in my group, we all play casual fun decks so we dont really get competitive, until they saw how scary the deck was. So they all started packing exile cards, the one thing that i couldnt get around with the deck. So I'm revamping it again. this time im going with a lot of etb effects with my creatures, so even if they get exiled they still hit strong.
Something to keep in mind is I'm a player who loves his creatures, in my opinion the more creatures the better so i sacrificed discard control for more creatures, ya it bites me in the ass but I'm ok with it.
currently the deck is
****NOTE**** in my meta we have banned dark ritual, mainly because of this deck so keep that in mind with your suggestions, also this deck was made with cards that I had already, only really bought the extra reanimate spells.*****
I feel like the only card that needs to be explained is vexing devil. Im using him because of three reasons. 1, the opponent takes the four damage to "counter" him. 2, if they dont he is a pretty beefy creature to drop turn 1 that will either cause them to use removal on him right away or I keep swinging till he dies. 3, low on life and need a creature to stay alive and cant afford to reanimate anything bigger BOOM, there he is.
I am open to all suggestions, as long as the deck is still black and red. I love Anger and his ability, an inferno titan dropping into play and then attacking thats an automatic 6 divided up as i choose.
Once again, dark ritual is banned in my meta, or believe me i would be using it.
Also im working on a pretty expensive standard deck right now so I would like it if all the card suggestions added up to less than $100. HAVE FUN EVERYONE!!!!
