Hellrider can nuke down opposing planeswalkers, or do damage to the player even if guys are blocked. Or am I missing something that relies on boosted power instead of pinging for one damage?
From the DKA zombie thread: (it got closed and all)
Is everybody seeing zombies as pure aggro? With some card draw (altar's reap) and/or recursion (ghoulcaller's chant) we could make use out of rooftop storm. It being on the field with Grimgrin Corpse-Born and gravecrawler in the graveyard means grimgrin goes infinite. If diregraf captain is on the field, we don't even have to attack. Of course that all goes to sh-- if they drop the cage.

Just an idea, dead Mikeas or the Lich seem really good in heartless. I'd really like to see Mikeas and Solemn on the board, then altar's reap the solemn, but no room for altar's reap, and it's only sometimes good.
I wanna see it in a mill deck, with grafdigger's cage on the table it would be better than things with flashback, as they could only look at what you put in their graveyard, but not touch.
Spikeshot dies with Heartless out, so that's null. You still need to be on 4-mana to Priest and Shot in a turn.
Turn 1: swamp
turn 2: mountain, heartless
turn 3: island, priest of urabrask, lich, priest ->infinite mana, cast spikeshot, he dies, rez with lich, he dies, but the lich gets his ability and you have infinite all red mana.
You don't ever need to cast this. When you would ever have that weird mix of more creatures than they have power is beyond me, but ooze can grab its ability and have a decent body.
Cards needed are: 4Ux or 4Bx big creatures with great ETB ability, like titans or solemn
or
cheap creatures dying with Heartless Summonig[/CARD] on board, with "dies" ability, like: Virdian Emmisary Perilous Myr.
I feel playtests are obvious, deck is uncoplete. If anyone have better UB or UBw cards or list, I'm open to discussion.
Okay okay, now read his post in a cookie monster voice, cause that's how the cookie monster would be talking about mtg.
Is the mana base consistent enough, elesh norn is a boss, so is day, but I'd hate to be mana screwed with my runescarred. (I do see that sad robot fixes the mana, I'm just asking how it works for you.)
I was just goofing around with one of my friends casual decks, but I tried shimmer myr against him. I had 3 wurmcoils, 2 steel hellkites and the 3 shimmer myrs in the deck, and it was kind of hilarious to drop a hellkite/wurmcoil at the end of his turn for 5 mana. It was also fun to drop a metamorph for 1 mana at the end of his turn, copying my rune scarred, one time I got his thrun with it. Even dropping sad robot (4 of) EOT was nice, cause that land doesn't really come in tapped anymore. Any thoughts on the shimmer myr shenanigans?
I like where you are going with the list. After playing with Whipflare a little bit, it is absolutely the right card to be playing in the mainboard. There are just too many creatures that have 2 toughness, and cutting back on the second R in the mana cost is massive advantage over it.
I'm not sure how Tumble Magnets are right now because of all those swarm decks. Also, Volt Charge has felt a little weak to me, and I'd rather just run more sweepers.
I do really like this style, and have been moving my list a bit in this direction now.
Aren't you a little scared of tempered steel? That would be a soul crushing top deck vs them. Although, yea, scary good against most everything else.
And about Deadmetal talking about discards, I saw a guy with chandra and mind rot in the same deck, and he was talking about forking that vs control, and the only thing they can do is counter it twice, which is 2 cards down anyways. That would just suck to see against non control.
Image is also great for thrun, geist, titans, wurmcoils...
Isn't Hero of Oxid Ridge just a worse Hellrider?

edit: oh yea first strike =)
....stupid win-more card that I want to play....

Maybe with Grim Lavamancer who enables bloodthirst and doubles as human fodder?
