    Special-Purpose Reprints

All policies described in this document apply only to non-premium, tournament-legal Magic cards. Wizards of the Coast has and may continue to print special versions of cards not meant for regular game play, such as oversized cards.

    Distinguish two sets of cards:

Cards that are not non-premium, tournament legal cards.
Cards that are special versions of cards not meant for regular game play, such as oversized cards.

These two sets are not the same. One could reasonably construe the second sentence as limiting and describing the first sentence. Alternatively, the second sentence may just be surplusage, making a general statement. The oversized cards part definitely doesn't add anything beyond providing an example. If Wizards had meant to say "non-premium, tournament legal cards" in the second sentence, it could have said that, but it didn't. Most likely, it was just drafted poorly without foreseeing this day.

The premium language basically opens the door to printing whatever they want without violating the language of the rule, depending upon who construes it and as long as that card is "premium," meaning foil.

Also, "non-premium, tournament legal" indisputably puts two concurrent criteria on the cards that the reprint policy applies to, not two alternative criteria. There is no way this can be construed as an "or."

The policy applies only to red, circular shapes.
It doesn't apply to square red shapes.
It doesn't apply to circular blue shapes.
It doesn't apply to square blue shapes.

It only applies to shapes that are both red and circular. If it isn't red or it isn't circular, the policy does not apply at all, as evidenced by the presence of "only." If a reprint would not both be non-premium and tournament-legal, the reserved list basically doesn't exist as far as that reprint is concerned.

Edit: Just to further drive this point home:

Quote from Chicago Manual of Style »

6.39 Comma or no comma between adjectives. When a noun is preceded by two or more adjectives that could, without affecting the meaning, be joined by "and," the adjectives are normally separated by commas. . . .

Shelly had proved a faithful, sincere friend.
It is going to be a long, hot, exhausting summer.

A definitive guide on construction of the English language says it means "and." If someone would like to cite a separate source that suggests otherwise, I'd love to see it.

It's also worth noting that the discussion is probably moot since WotC can do what it wants. Then again, how the public reacts to WotC's policies undoubtedly shape them in some fashion (and this has been said in the past), so perhaps the discussion is worthwhile in that sense.

I like this plan. It's worth looking into what's going on.

Greven, it was only now that they're using the "loophole" for products available at retail. They WANTED to put Sliver Queen in Premium Deck Series: Slivers but were unable to because of the Reserved List.

Is there a source for this?

Also, the recent announcement is not that source. It just states that it would have been cool to have Sliver Queen in there, not that the policy prevented it from being in there.

A professional repack, perhaps? I have seen things like this in the past and they didn't seem to be WotC products.

Are wildcards supported? I glanced through the thread but wasn't able to find it.

Nice job posting Falter on the front page in response to this thread. The site is indeed faltering now.

I'm pretty sure that they won't be using MOTL prices...OP is a big online Magic dealer, so the prices displayed would most likely be their site prices.

If the OP does use its prices rather than the closest thing to a definitive authority (MOTL), then the engine would be completely useless.

It would have to use an appropriate valuation engine (MOTL price guide) and it would have to be able to exclude cards below a certain value. Also, it would probably be more worthwhile if it could value collections rather than just decks (assuming there was some card number limit).

Try using double quotes when you search for multiple words, like "black lotus" instead of black lotus. See if it works.

This worked! While I'd like it to work without the quotes, that is very helpful. Thanks!

    @OP:
Are you only having problem when trying to search for composite names?

Yes, I'm apparently only having errors for searches involving more than one word. I hadn't realized this until it was pointed out earlier.

That one is ok, but I really want the one that just goes in the little search bar, as sometimes a card comes up on AIM and I want to type it in.

Does anybody have the know how to fix/make one of these?

I have the mini search bar in the corner of firefox and there is the little drop down menu where I can search on whatever thing I want (Google, Wikipedia, Magiccards.info, IMDB, etc.). I have tried ones for Gatherer, such as this one:

    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/12793

Yet when I type something in, such as "Black Lotus," it says that I have zero results. I am at a loss as to why this might be. Is this a problem with my computer or are others having this problem? Is there perhaps another addon (or whatever the proper term is) somewhere of which I am unaware? I want to have access to the Gatherer one in addition to Magiccards.info because Gatherer is sometimes more up to date than Magiccards.info. Additionally, sometimes one is up while the other is down.

Thanks for your assistance. If more information is required, please let me know.

110.5e A token that’s phased out, or that’s in a zone other than the battlefield, ceases to exist. This is a state-based action; see rule 704. (Note that if a token changes zones, applicable triggered abilities will trigger before the token ceases to exist.)

Note the part in parentheses. So, the token will go to the graveyard. The rule doesn't prevent it from going anywhere other than being on the battlefield. It just causes it to cease to exist once it gets to some place other than on the battlefield.
