Guess now I have to get back online and make the deck there too, as I keep forgetting that I even have an account. At least this way I don't have to wait weeks until the cards come in when I can just hop on and go from there.
As for my friend, not sure how his deck is going to play out, but shutting down blue is the best thing I can do and then come at him with everything saying "peek-a-boo"! Of course, if he destroys Iona, I can always reanimate
Just so I know, is French games more restricted on what you can play? It sounds like this, but I would like to be clear so I don't jump the gun and assume.
I'm not saying to tell all the U players to go fist themselves.
I could not help but laugh when I seen this. I mean, that's just too funny to NOt laugh at.
If I was able to play Iona, you bet that I would play blue as that allows us to really come out better and not worry about those pesky counters. At my meta, I know what one player is going today as, Niv-Mezzet, the Firemind, as he is trying for the continuous draw/ping to death combo. Not sure if he can reanimate his graveyard, so that's going to seriously reduce his combo when blue is named. It also helps that I won't be the only one going after him as he has a rep of being an major ******* when playing. So nautarally everyone is going to go after him, especially when he said how his game is going to go down.
Don't get me wrong, he is a good guy to hang out with and do stuff with, but when it comes to magic, he is a nightmare.
Overall, once I get the deck created, it is just a matter of play testing and knowing when to hold 'um and when to fold 'um.
Looks alright, I would personally go -1 Elixir(which doesn't do much honestly) and +1 Jeweled Amulet, which is the only rock that enables t2 Bandit Lord into t3 hastyKaalia. I know the possibilities of getting both are low(as Eriol has pointed out to me as to why he doesn't run it), but it is still nice to have when you want to fireball out the gates at times. Also replace Ingot with Fire Diamond so that you will have your complete suite of two drop rocks.
I noticed you've eschewed the discard spells too, which since you said is for multiplayer, I suppose is a fine choice. In 1v1 it is definitely a great asset to have.
Valid points as I was thinking about the Fire Diamond over Ingot also. Either works well as the Ingot survives destruction effects, but the fire also does help bring Kaalia out quicker.
I didn't think about Terminus any but Balancing Act does add a bit of destruction without the actual destroy effect. Plus discard is always good.
Jeweled Amulet was something I didn't think would work, but when you mentioned the T3 Kaalia, then it clicked. So I made those changes.
Again, thanks for the help. Now to get the cards I don't have and give this a run through with my peers. Hopefully I don't die first for once haha.
Ok, I think that I managed to make a good deck utilizing both 3drinks and Eriol. Just need some help understanding if I made a good choice. Basically, I combined both decks into something that I think may work here at my local area.
If I got this right, this may qualify for a multiplayer/overall casual game play. Im like Eriol as I dont care if I lose, but I dont want to win too quickly. I like watching my opponents suffer. However, I do like to get in there and beat them down when I like to, as 3drinks deck seems to do. So hopefully I got it pretty balanced out, espeically the lands. Thats the biggest challenge.
As long as Kaalia players stay away from lands that enter the battlefield tapped, the Kaalia players generally do well. My objective is not make sure that a Kaalia player wins. My objective is to make sure they are hitting their land drops and not falling behind. I am prepared to lose and lose big so long as I don't feel that my land drops were inadequate. Kaalia is an aggressive general, so waiting an extra turn to untap those ETB tapped lands is really bad.
This is so true. I have suffered many times because of something like this. I would honestly say, that 9 out of 10 games I am the first to go because of something like this. If for some reason that I am not behind on the land curve, I am the first to go. So hopefully with this deck and yours as suggestions, I am sure to have something that will keep me in the game a little longer than first killed.
This is a lot to take in. I will tweak my deck a little more to include/uninclude your suggestions. Thanks again for the help. I will post my deck later so you all can rip it apart haha.
Yea, right now I am trying to focus on the multiplayer aspect. For a 1v1 situation, which I am sure that I will see here, I will probably stick to 3drinks post about it as it looks pretty solid.
Right now, I am trying to find a more budget suggestion for a land for Badlands and Scrubland. These are really tough to come by right now, so I am trying to find an alternate solution. Any suggestions would be nice, otherwise, I will proabably just throw in another Plains, Swamp or Moutain to suffice.
Yay! And my -- neigh, our -- Kaalia community continues to thrive with yet another new member to add to the A/D/D battalion.
Ever since I seen the Kaalia pre-fab commander deck, I have always wanted to play with her, even if she didnt fit my playstyle. Only reason she didnt is because of two things. 1) I still dont have a great understanding of how to make/play a deck and 2) I didnt like a quick win half the time. However, after playing with the pre-fab here with friends, I got the beat down incredibly fast and usualy the first to go.
So with your deck, and another I found online in these forums, I was going to tweak the results to try to make a 5-6 player game (as we have at the most of 6 people wanting to play commander style Magic), and also keep this deck as a 1v1 in case someone wanted to play me 1v1 style.
When finished, is it safe to post here the result or would you rather have a PM about it?
EDIT:// Err...nevermind on the question. I noticed on another page you already answered this haha.
Otherwise, I have been using this deck for a starter and tweaking it based on the meta here. I love the idea of this concept and I am going to have to make it a reality now.
JMA is garbage IMO. i'm very disappointed in this reprint
What did you expect? Another Mind Scuptor to surface? Highly unlikely. This reprint was expected, at least until they release a better one during one of the blocks. Core sets are there to help build a core deck. The other sets just help build on it.
For lands, I would probably use the Razorverge Thicket and Sunpetal Grove...as just in case ordeal. You never know when they may prove useful, especially when going G/W.
But, if you are giong to go that route, why not add Strangleroot Geist in? Granted, he may not be all that great, but thats another card you can have on board that can chumpblock other crap to help you survive longer, not to mention come back +1/+1 stronger.

One thing that comes to mind is the Sublime Angel. That could cause some serious harm.

Overall, it doesnt look too bad, but I think you would need a chump blocker in there to keep you alive as long as you wanted to though.
