Mar 6, 2018draftguy2 posted a message on MMI: Masters 25 Value ReviewI am not sure I agree with your assessment. I would say that you should use medium until you have purchased enough product to have obtained a theoreticly full set of cards. (or more) before that you are still only joansing for middle of the pack. After you have a full set it could be viewed as investment/ROI before that their is still the element of risk to account for. At 3 mythics per box that means I would only start using the average at 5 boxes or more.Posted in: Articles

Mar 4, 2018draftguy2 posted a message on MMI: Masters 25 Value ReviewI really liked your information. However wish to give a more 'average" player perspective. The Average Player however is not buying enough product to care about the average, the medium is amuch better metric for determaning value... if we take the average value from the mediums we getPosted in: Articles
Mythic
medium
Master of the Wild Hunt averaged value 6.74
Now we use your estimate of 3 mythics per box, Mythics add 19.42 value to the box
Now rares. assuming like you that the ones worth less then buck are 0.
Nicol Bolas averaged value 2.05
Our box has 22 of these in it. valued at 45.06
Now uncommons
I am going to use your numbers because with 75 cracked you almost have a full set making average a applicaple option since you likely will get all of them. so 12.50
Now commons Same as the uncommons we have enough cracked that you should get what you are looking for atleast once. Lets add $5.
Foils, I have no data it seems like a total crapshoot. Frankly I am tempted to add 0 but instead we will use your value since you COULD hit a jackpot.... $30
We add that together we get
111.98
This is your medium(ish) value of a box.

With Collector Protector either it SHOULD be banned like Ashon's coupon or the coupon should be unbanned since they are used in the same sort of combo where basicly its a Give me $$$ or lose the game.
I oddly think Moxlotus should be unbanned... yes its infint mana but their are lots of ways in edh to get that much mana and the artifact COSTs 15...... Yes it jumps through hoops and is strong but I don't think its strong enough to warrent banning.
I understand why Secret lair, Staying power are banned and yes even Richard (no matter how much I would love to have him as my general) - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
Is't dropping the price of cards a very good thing for standard, Lower entery point=easyer to get in too. Most people do not buy their deck from packs but from the single market, if it only costs me $100 for a T1 standard deck instead of $250 I am more likely to buy a T1 standard deck and play in more standed events no?
Yes I for one miss Tourniment packs and their extra uncommmon (in the price compairson to the same number of booster packs. (also if they made them so its 1 mythic and 2 rares even better since it helps even out the frustarting mythic luck factor on box openings.
Umm Modern IS the new card frame format.... Also welcome to the world of legacy and vintage we have been complaining about "too strong for standard so we can't reprint great format staple X" for a long long time. Again Modern is that format, their are no reserve list cards legal in modern, Good modern cards are repritned in sets like the ones mentioned now and again. This format exsists.
What you are describing is "god hand" though, 3 or 4 of the same card... Legacy "god hands" can turn 1 win the game. Personaly I think the format can (and did) handle it fine without too much problems.
That is not necessarily true, You can find stores selling some cards for pennies. Their are garbage rares worth 10cents or less. On Starcity the lowest I found was 0.09. This means they can and do sell cards that low. You can get bulk lots pretty cheap if you break down the per card price. IT is entirely possible for duel lands to be reprinted enough to drop to a penny or less. For example lets say they are printed as a rare but they also print new fancy Trilands (real come in play untapped multiland type trilands with game no negative effects (or even positive ones like gain 2 life when this comes in to play or draw a card ) at mythic in the same set. not to say it will happen its profoundly unlikely but it is possible.
I feel that might have been overkill, PEEK was not wrecking up the meta at any level. at 2 mana its bearly draft playable at 3 its not even draft playable.
If your looking for Reserve list goodies the time to buy was... Several years ago, but Today is the best option you are going to get on that front.
That is some really wishful thinking we are not ever getting dredge again not at a competitive playable level...Dredge is right up their with storm, cheap land destruction and fast combo in the "things we will never do again" list for wizards unfortunately.
