Can a creature have multiple instances of Exalted, and do they stack? For example, say you have Guardians of Akrasa out, then you cast Sublime Archangel. If you then swing with the Guardians, will it get +2/+2 or +3/+3?
It won't get anything, since it can't attack.
In all seriousness though, yes, Exalted effects stack. So as long as you swing with a creature that doesn't have Defender, multiple instances of Exalted will all trigger separately.
If that worked it would be absolutely bonkers, but it doesn't:
"Return to the battlefield all permanent cards in your graveyard that were put there from the battlefield this turn."
You need both artifact and creature sacrifice, plus an inordinate number of pieces on the table for this to work, I don't see this happening really (at least in standard), unless some other cards are spoiled, or RTR breaks it open. However, definitely worth considering as additional sunrises in Sunnyside Up.
Thought so. The original post says "Return to the battlefield all permanents that have been put into your graveyard this turn." which is obviously incorrect after seeing the actual card, so that should probably be edited to reflect the actual wording on the card so as to not confuse anyone else. I got my hopes up for nothing.
At first glance the wording makes it sound like the permanents don't have to be put into the graveyard from the battlefield, which means milling your own stuff is an option. Unfortunately after thinking about it I realized that the wording would likely have to be "permanent cards" in order for that to be the case. Am I correct or is this card really that awesome?
Apologies if this was already covered, but what about running a couple Gideon's Avenger? Especially with Gideon's Lawkeeper proving his merit, it's a terrific combo. I suppose it's hard to pick something to swap out for it, maybe the Hamlet Captains?
Gideon's Avenger is pretty bad, especially if they're taking up spaces for Hamlet Captain. Gideon's Lawkeeper does work well with it, but since we're an aggro deck we don't really care about combos like this (and you'd want to run playsets of each which would hurt a lot in this deck). It's also a dead card against most control decks and tokens (thanks to Intangible Virtue). You could probably build a human deck around this concept, but it would be less aggro and more control.
What is the consensus on Sun Titans in this general build? I have a variation but I havent had a chance to test it with the titans yet.
Sun Titan looks appealing since most of our creatures are 3 or less mana, but ideally we want to win by the turn we'd be able to cast him (6 CMC hurts in this deck). If you're looking for recovery after a board wipe Sun Titan might work, but then so will Hero of Bladehold or Kessig Cagebreakers and they are cheaper (and likely to get more power on the board with a single swing).
I've been testing out my human build against what I think will be my greatest threat; a ridiculous token deck that I also built (unfortunately just on paper for now). It's too late for me to change my mind on what I'll be running this weekend for Game Day, so I've made some revisions and would like as much feedback as I can get so I can decide on any last minute card purchases. Here's what looks to be my final version for Saturday:
I've been looking for cards that might work in this deck that nobody has mentioned yet, and Spirit Mantle caught my eye. There's been a lot of talk on "alpha strike" cards but most of them have a catch; Overrun is 2GGG, lots of humans around making Spare from Evil very situational, lots of artifacts around making Ruthless Invasion iffy, and Gideon Jura is pretty good but is still pretty expensive and doesn't help against token decks with Intangible Virtue (Vigilance). Spirit Mantle is only 1W and on a Mirran Crusader it's bad news for your opponent. Sure it can be 2-for-1'd but compared to something like Angelic Destiny it seems almost better depending on the situation. Thoughts?
I really like your deck, its very similar to mine. I think the only minor differences is I SB a kessig instead of MB and you run some Mikhaeus. The only big thing I see is I run 24 land. I see your only running 22. Have you had any mana issues when gametesting or have you been fine? Being able to drop a land or two for some creatures would be a big boost for me, but i am afraid of not being able to get those gideon's/overseers out when i need them.
I've actually been doing pretty well mana-wise. There have been many times that I've dropped a Gideon/Cagebreaker/Overseer with only 2 or 3 lands on the board, thanks to Avacyn's Pilgrim. I figure with a playset of those guys 22 land should be enough to get me by.
Here's my version of the deck that I plan to run on Game Day (sadly that's the next time I'll be able to play, but not all my cards are here yet anyway):
Edit: Is Spellskite not a card that Illusion Decks should at least CONSIDER using? I'm kinda surprised that it hasn't really been talked about that much...
Thing is, Spellskite can't save Illusion creatures as they will have been targeted by the time Spellkite's ability is activated, hence they will still be sacrificed. I'm assuming that's why you suggested Spellkite, if not I apologize for making the assumption.
I will almost always be running Day of Judgment in my deck, but if I know my opponent will be running them then I'll swap them out for Fresh Meat, let my opponent do the dirty work and then come out ahead in the end.
You're right, building a deck around that combo isn't a good idea. But given the nature of most of the current Heartless Summoning decks, it's not hard to include said combo pieces anyway. If it all falls into place great, but Perilous Myr is still a good card to run with Heartless Summoning (free Shock to the face) and depending on what else you're running Glissa, the Traitor can be an asset as well (getting back cards like Myr Superion and Wurmcoil Engine, for example).
And overrun effects should be discussed too. The good old Overrun is great and all, but Triumph of the Hordes does stand at a lower CMC with a more manageable 2GG. What do you guys think?
I do love Triumph of the Hordes, but I also worry about getting the opponent to 9 poison counters with it and then still having to worry about dealing them damage or drawing another TotH. It's definitely easier to cast though, what with the GG requirement vs GGG of Overrun.
It would also be the perfect "counter" to Cavern of Souls.
It won't get anything, since it can't attack.
