I'm going against the grain and picking Dark Prophecy. Normally I avoid triple color cards, but black has a common removal spell that adds BBB. I could see an aggressive black / x deck that has a couple liturgy to make this enchantment cast able.

This is what I would do today, although after drafting a few times my choice might change. I'm not sure how good 2/2s are in the format yet.

Extracting narcameba is a huge tempo play as well. I like that line a lot. Extraction can do some nasty things vs dredge. Nihil spell bomb is quite effective as well.

@Mind break Trap. I personally don't run this card because it is pretty narrow. Trap is excellent at doing one thing, countered storm triggers. There are other options that can break up storm and break up other decks as well. In general, I don't like surgical extraction, but it is quite good in this deck.

Most storm decks are based on Past in Flames. Reanimator is graveyard based obviously. Tin Fins revolves around the graveyard. Extracting bridge from below is a blow out vs. Dredge.

Boarding trip in vs elves, goblins, and affinity? I don't agree with this approach.

    Dormantas,

Glad I can help a bit. I like abrupt decay a lot, and it is one of the best cards in the rug delver matchup. I personally run 3, and wouldn't play less. I have seen lists running 2, but I find it to be extremely effective in basically every matchup. I mean, vs combo you can occasionally take out and LED or lotus because they are playing around your discard.

Dan, one of the things that's great about legacy is the depth of play. If you can avoid playing a forest (is you have a grove of the burn willows in play) you should. I'm not saying don't ever go for a forest, I'm just saying play around submerge if you can.

    A couple notes here:

1 basic swamp and 1 basic forest should be sufficient, because you have death rite shaman and abrupt decay to work around blood moon.

Krosan grip is OK, but I feel ancient grudge is strictly better. Ancient grudge is insane against the artifact heavy decks (that are popular in my meta), but its also very good with life from the loam (which tends to be good vs the artifact decks).

Abrupt Decay deals with most problematic enchantments. The only relevant enchantment I can think of that it doesn't answer is humility.

@beating RUG. This matchup seems pretty close. I find most of the games I lose revolve around getting wasteland / stifled and not being able to establish a man base. For this reason, I like to lower my curve by taking out blood braid elves. Hymn to Tourach is also dangerous if they have misdirection. Avoid finding forests so you can play around submerge.

I'm having a hard time buying into playing garruk over bbe. Blood braid is in the deck for a few reasons.

    1. He matches up extremely well vs Jace.
    2. He matches up well vs. Counter magic.
    3. He helps clear garbage off the top of your deck.
    4. He digs toward sideboard cards.

I think reason 4 is huge. I run a lot of singletons in the sideboard. Bbe makes sure I can find it in time. Frankly, I'm not sure what garruk really brings to the table. Making a 2/2 wolf each turn? That's not very exciting to me.

I just want to interject regarding how impressive Sylvan library has been for me. It is insane with dark confidant. You can set up draws that look like this: upkeep reveal land off Bob, end of upkeep crack fetch land, draw phase look at the top 3.

The ability to just draw 2-3 garbage cards is huge. Post board, library allows you to dig deeper, faster. Against graveyard decks, you can dig toward your surgical extraction (which you should be running in theboard IMHO).

Surgical is so powerful vs storm decks, tin fins, reanimator, etc. When they "go for it" you can absolutely blow them out.

    /2 cents.

I would avoid pyre heart right now. Pillar of Flame is picking up steam and makes your 3 manager 1/1 look awful.

I think this guy could have a chance. Imagine this guy on turn 2 followed by increasing savagery. He seems pretty strong in the red/green beats deck with ghor-clan rampager and gyre sage.

All that said, he doesn't give you value when he comes into play. He has no haste or evasion. He has no resilience to removal.

I don't see him tearing up pro tours, but he is certainly powerful. Its amazing the power creep from craw wurm to this guy. Smile

I think Centaur Healer gas a lot more synergy with the deck than fog. He's quite effective vs agro.

I posted a quick tourement report to a blog. I'm really liking agro Jund, and believe it is a solid choice for any upcoming PTQ's.

I'm feeling very weak to eggs and kiki pod, I'm not sure how to beat them and haven't had an opportunity to play against the decks much, especially eggs

Faerie macabre is good vs eggs.

Grafdigger's cage / grim lavamancer is good vs. Pod.

That list seems solid to me. I'm a huge fan of Lili (perhaps to a fault), so I would run 4. I think in this midrange style deck Thoughtseize is vastly better than Inquisition, because there are some midgame cards you can't beat (think cryptic command).

2 slaughter games may be too heavy. On the draw, the decks you use it against may already have you dead. I would probably play 1 personally. Faerie Macabre and Grim lavamancer are solid sideboard options as well.

i agree the card is good but isn't Terminate better than Dismember midgame?

if there's a point in a match in the future where you're able to swing the game state because you had Dismember in hand and wouldn't have the same outcome by using Terminate, then please share it so we may be enlightened as well.

    Smile

I specifically like Dismember in matchups where efficiency matters, not life total. For Example:

    - against Infect it is better than Swords to Plowshares.
    - great vs. Celestial Conlonade control
    - kills Kiki-Jikis and Deciever Exarch very effectively

It's going to be poor vs:

    - Racing decks where life counts
    - Combo decks, but Terminate is pretty dead here also

They both serve a purpose. Depending on what you expect you can move your numbers around. Terminate is sick-good at killing creatures though.
