I pulled 3 Tezzerets from my first box of MBS, plus a Sphinx and Hero of Bladehold. That was a weird one

Since you have the vast majority of the expensive cards, it would very much be worth your time to hunt down the two remaining P9 and commons/uncommons to form the complete set. You can still pick up EX/NM versions of those at retail without much problem, much less looking out for good deals on eBay or trader forums like this one.

If you are strapped for cash, just hunt down the commons and uncommons, and note the "almost complete" since with the duals and other P9 cards there will be a tremendous amount of interesting in the collection.

Indeed. If I wanted a Beta set and only had to buy 2 readily available Moxen to finish it off, I'd be all over it

Tamiyo has protection, card advantage, and an "I win" ultimate...three excellent qualities in a PW. Picked one up for my cube even if I never use her elsewhere

Got offered a Temporal Mastery for a Cavern of Souls today and turned it down. I agree that it will crash hard, and quickly. People at the pre-release were verrry eager to trade theirs

I was planning on getting a box with some SCG credit I'm waiting to get put into my account...then they upped the box price to what I consider too much @ $109.99 + shipping. I'll probably just be doing 2 fat packs this time around and ordering a couple boxes of RTR when they're available @ $89.99

My pre-release was okay...in my 6 I pulled a Sigarda and a couple Emancipation Angels that carried me through the first few rounds, plus a completely unusable Primal Surge. My buddy pulled a Cavern. Not too great, not too bad.

You clearly can't drop Tibalt in any old deck and expect him to work for you. He needs a deck where your AVERAGE draw will exceed the lost value of your AVERAGE discard. Flashback effects tilt that scale in your favor, as do graveyard effects, dredge cards, and some others. Decks with more of these effects will be able to use him most effectively.

That said, I plan to at least experiment with him. If people blow him off, all the better. He'll be cheaper for me Smile If nothing else, dropping him prior to countermagic coming online against control and then hitting them and their big hand with a Storm Seeker a few turns later without further mana investment should be brutal

They might print a new set of decks, but the "current" 5 have already gone OOP

lol wow. Yeah that would be good.

anyway has it been resolved about people using Undying evil to try and save the vexing devil? or does that not work?

I would think that you'd need to cast Undying Evil prior to your opponent making their choice. Once they've made their choice he's either alive or dead and gone before you can respond. That said, it would be a surefire way to get an opponent to let him stay alive, but it would be a T2 play at the earliest and would dilute his value as a resolved creature.

It's outstanding and will make waves. I'm not sure what else you could possibly want from a red one-drop. He can still kill most serious creatures in Standard right now that don't have Titan in their names even if it's late game and you're "forced" to play your 4/3 for one red. Or play him T3 after you drop your Shrine? Oh darn...you mean I only get 4 damage and a Shrine token for my one red? Okay, I'll play a Berserker now, too, and my Shrine will have 4 tokens on it as T4 starts.

I think hero of bladehold does something very similar but without depending on another card, the board state, and wont die to shock

I'm not sure what you expect from an uncommon.

I really like this. As said before, a Thatcher Revolt with nothing but Commander on the board gives you a swing with 3x 4/4 and a 5/5 for 3 mana. That's outstanding value and will likely clear an opponent's board or wreck them. Earlier Intangible Virtues would just ice the cake.

Personally I'm shocked that this is even an issue. People who have figured out the myriad intricacies of Magic should be able to figure out how to differentiate between multiple Caverns. If you're running 4, bring a penny, a nickel, a dime, and a quarter to the table with a post-it note. As you play a Cavern, mark it with a coin and write on the post-it which tribe that penny signifies. DONE. Finished. No possible argument. No possible shenanigans.

Any Magic solution can fit in your pocket. I know people will moan about it anyway, but it's not hard.

  • posted a message on Value/odds of cards from Guildpact?
Guildpact has 55 rares. At $5 apiece roughly per pack you've got 5 rares worth the price of the pack, or 1 in 11 packs. Best pull you could get is a Steam Vents with dealer prices averaging $27.

So if you open 11 packs and get exactly 1 money rare that happens to be Steam Vents, your estimated return is almost exactly 50 cents on the dollar plus a bunch of crap. Any other scenario and you do even worse.

Do a Ravnica block draft instead or something. This ain't the way to get rich Wink

Definitely a house in big EDH games. Just pick one guy to leave alone...or hell, you can even help him gain life if you want and just wail on the rest of the board

Welp, just preordered a playset @ 80...SCG burned through a stock of 40 or so in about 10 min. Even if I end up overpaying a bit by jumping the gun, this will be a dream to brew with.

It was nuts if there where no gut shots in standard. But if you can pull it off, a turn 3 titan is definitely not bad.

Yes, but if they're not holding Gut Shot, they get rolled...especially if you've dropped that gnarly new counterproof land to use.

    Outstanding card.
