I've always thought he's one of the best values around for your mana no matter how things shake out. He was just printed at a time when he couldn't be abused and got overlooked.

I'm brewing a Jund deck with him and Varolz. He is THE best target in Standard for Varolz's ability

All of them...every time. Crack them for the first few days...then hoard them once the market starts to recalibrate. I found some Innistrad packs at Target today under retail and bought them out. Whenever you can get a deal like that, I advocate riding the wave as far as you can.

TCG now has Gaea's Cradle at $250, and SCG has them at $149, but they are sold out at that price.
What does everyone think this card will settle at?

Wow...this was in the $90s last week. This and Tolarian Academy have always been my favorite lands, though. Not terribly surprised to see this

Sounds like semi-bulk, honestly. If he outright tells you there aren't any gems in there, he's probably sold them as singles already. As for the rest, if he really has 1000 rares and some are worth $10 or so, it's probably still a square deal and he knows it. Even turning, say, 900 bulk rares over to SCG would net $90. Another 90 at $1 apiece would bring it to $180 and even with only 10 $10 rares you're at $280 without taking the C/U into account.

In summary, I'd guess it's a guy who has done his research and doesn't want to get screwed. You almost certainly won't make any money, but if you'd like to bulk up your collection, there you go

Hmmm. Really interesting. I'd probably try playing him in a hyper-aggro deck where sacrificing a blocker every turn is a tough sell.

Or I'd drop Niblis of the Breath or something fun like that

Or gosh. Maybe I'll play against a deck without Lingering Souls and just roll

Everyone will want shocks out of the gate, but I suspect that sales of this set will crush any previous records and there will be LOTS of them out there after a few weeks. As usual, though, anything with blue will track higher, although Golgari might be pretty well positioned right now, too. I'd guess things will settle around $8 for Blood Crypt, $10 for Temple Garden and Overgrown Tomb, $12 for Steam Vents and maybe a touch more for Hallowed Fountain

I think he's fantastic. His split color cost also makes him a legit playable counter in a mono-white deck, which is quite a treat on top of an evasive body. More value than you can shake a stick at, really

Honestly it depends on what kind of goodwill a store wants to build with its customers. If I were looking to have great rapport with my customers, I'd let them buy 1 box at $72 and use their card, then charge the $80 for any more than that. Maybe punch a hole in it or something to show they've used that privilege.

Even if he pays $80 for M13 he can still easily make his money back by selling the "overhyped cards". Hell, selling Liliana, Ajani, Hellkite and maybe a Thragtusk would pay for the rest of the cards.

Darkslicks and Seachromes are selling for about half what they were a month ago. I got a set of Darkslicks for $30 this past week. I suspect they'll keep dropping to 5 or so, but in my case I'm happy taking a slight value hit in order to get a few extra weeks of play out of them before they rotate

Interesting that its rulings force you to find X targets rather than just letting you dump your whole hand every time if you want. I'd think that Dredge would find that inconvenient a lot of the time.

I grabbed one for my Mayael deck a couple weeks ago...more for enabling her ability than for anything else, but I do have a couple miracles floating around in there that I wouldn't mind setting up with it.

It's about a $20 card these days. Unless W/B tokens makes a splash sometime soon, it won't be going anywhere. Might drop a little bit, but he's really not gonna get opened much so the supply won't keep going up like it would in other more popular sets. If you don't mind losing a couple bucks, go for the LGS trade. It's convenient and isn't a bad offer. I've seen them on here for $18

Why not split the difference...2-3 of each card you need and a box on the side so you can have fun ripping packs?

Essentially all of my singles have come from here, SCG and Ebay. I'd say that each place is better for one thing or another:

Ebay can generally get you a single card or playset at the absolute lowest price, particularly if they're hot new cards. You can also get the highest dollar on popular cards when selling shortly after a set's release, and the occasional outrageously low BIN auction is always a nice surprise

SCG has outstanding buylist prices on high-end cards. I got 25% more from them than I could have anywhere else for a few of my Revised duals. You can also get odd quantities of cards (say, 3 copies of something) that you'd have a hard time finding on Ebay, and as long as they're not popular new planeswalkers, the prices are as good if not better than Ebay.

MTGS has the most variable supply of cards, but generally they're in line with low-end dealer prices. They're usually a couple bucks higher than the lowest price you'd find on Ebay, but it saves you the trouble of waiting for a good BIN and/or bidding. You also clearly get the benefit of being able to trade your cards for even value, which you can't really get at the other places
