    Ebay email just now:

    "Hello,

Yesterday, Wizards of the Coast launched the exclusive Magic: The Gathering War of the Spark Mythic Edition card set on their eBay Hasbro store. The excitement for this set was overwhelming: 12,000 booster boxes sold out almost instantly, and technical issues resulted in the set being oversold beyond the limited quantity available. As a result, we were not able to successfully complete your order. We’ll issue your refund very shortly in your original form of payment.

It's safe to say that Jace and his War of the Spark Mythic Edition pals broke the internet yesterday. Yikes. We want to make sure you still have a chance to get in on some action.

First, eBay will be sending you a virtual gift card towards a future purchase in a separate email. Keep your eyes open for that. Secondly, we're working with Wizards of the Coast to send something special to every person whose order was canceled. You'll hear more about that delivery in a future email from us.

Your experience yesterday wasn't what we wanted or you expected, and we hope you accept these tokens of thanks from us and Wizards of the Coast."

Soooo...looks like a gift card and a box topper or something.

How do they stop people from having multiple servers being in the Cue and buying all the tickets?

They don't. And honestly, they can't. When demand outstrips supply this badly, people will always find a way to circumvent any manufacturer intentions of "fair" distribution. I don't even know what they could possibly do. Ship to your local LGS and force you to open the box in front of staff before you leave to show it's not gonna go right up on Ebay? Even then you could just go and sell the cards...

A digital queue is also how big music festivals like Coachella work. Anyone who is logged into the site's "waiting room" when tickets go on sale gets dropped into a random spot in line. Anyone who logs in after go time starts at the end of the line. When you reach the front you have five minutes to make your purchase or it goes to the next person in line. Obviously there are more than 12,000 tickets there but there's still crushing demand and things seem to work quite well...

For what it's worth, Ebay just tweeted that it's "officially sold out" about five minutes ago...so I think we're done...

Somehow I doubt that they're going to just triple the production run. I suspect the additional "stock" is just the canceled orders getting loaded back into the system. I don't think their total sales numbers go down when an order gets canned...

Holy smokes...yeah, they screwed the pooch on this one. I got my first order in at 12:02 PST, payment pending for five minutes, then canceled due to payment failure, which is BS. I've never had a payment fail in 20 years on Ebay. Bumbled back onto the product page at 12:26, it was available again, bought again and payment/confirmation went through.

    What a cluster...

Whatever didn't sell will probably get held back by dealers until the market resets. Might be some snipe chances on eBay if someone decides to sell and hasn't seen the announcement. Other than that...yeah, it could get awkward

Any card that's played in any format for any reason would be worth picking up for the pimp factor

  • posted a message on I just won an P9 ebay auction but the price make no sense...what to do...
Yeah, typos and peculiar titles are a value-conscious buyer's best friends. Let us know if the auctions pan out for you! There's always the chance that the seller will take the negative feedback on the sale if he thinks it's outrageously low (which it is), but at the very worst you'll get your money back from PP

Just looking at your replies, you have NM, SP, LP, MP, HP, G, EX, P, and DAM...essentially everyone is speaking a different language to you. Many stores have their own scales, as do many grading sites and trading sites. My future advice would be to pick one scale, learn it well, and direct buyers to its specifics if they have questions.

And I would recommend hi-res scans (front and back) for each and every dual you buy or sell Smile that said, I think the OP got a deal and could easily make at least $50 if he flipped the cards without any compensation from the original seller

I think Liliana has already had her spike. She's over $150 already. Snaps probably has some room for a jump, though

I'm horrendous at keeping product sealed. This would just be a mad pack-cracking frenzy for me, which likely isn't in my best financial interest

Fallen Empires and Homelands were total jank. My understanding is that somebody somewhere decided that the power level of a set like Legends was out of control and they started to tone things down instead of just printing stuff that looked or sounded cool out of sheer principle. The Dark was sort of in the middle of that power level conundrum; it had a few winners like Ball Lightning and Maze of Ith, but then there was Sorrow's Path and apparently Sisters of the Flame at rare. Then you got the nadir in Fallen Empires and Homelands followed by what was considered a resurgence in Ice Age and Alliances and the beginning of my personal favorite run of sets from Mirage through Urza's block (which, as was previously stated, led to another toning down of power levels since R&D got awfully excited and dreamed awfully big at that point)

  • posted a message on Why aren't prices listed in the "Sales Lot" forum more competitive?
Some people like dealing with other players instead of websites.

The only things I post in the Sales Lot are A) Eternal staples and B) Brand-new or suddenly popular Standard cards. I can move them easily and get a price close to what I'd get on Ebay without the fees. That usually works out to a little below the "low" price of cards on TCGplayer and is fine by me. When I buy, I look for something similar. I try to meet sellers somewhere between that "low" price and buylist prices. They get more cash, fee-free, than they would elsewhere and I save a few bucks. It's not worth the time that often, but for larger staples it can be

The best part about this card is that she can practically swap spots with Sharuum and require only a few changes to the deck list in order to be good to go. I like her a lot. A lot, a lot. She makes so many fun interactions. Darksteel Forge becomes an absolute monstrosity...

But then the Forge can get hit by Path or something else that otherwise couldn't touch it...and then your artifacts are vulnerable again. Double-edged sword there
