Just finished up Modern FNM tonight, finished the night 2-2
Match 1, Burn 2-0: Was a newer player piloting the deck. He should have taken it to game three but he didn't realize he could have used Rift Bolt earlier than he had. Both games I was only a lighting bolt from death but he ran out of gas before me.
Match 2, Dredge 1-2: My opponent said his deck wasn't cooperating with him all night so he was less explosive than usual. I've never played against Dredge before so I used game one to watch mostly. Game three Settle the Wreckage surprised him and he complimented my play on maximizing it on 4 creatures but he ended up refilling his board before I could.
Match 3, UR Phoenix 1-2: All three games both of us struggled to get anything actually going. Settle once again almost sealed me a victory in game three but I hit a pocket of four lands and he was able to find cantrips to phoenix me in the end.
Match 4, 5 Color Aggro: 2-1: Linear but synergistic filled aggro deck. Dovin going off with ultimate let me stabilize game two as I wasn't drawing anything but land. Game three I was able to drop three Supreme Phantom to out race him.
Very pleased I got to test Dovin. I've been eyeing him for spirits since he was spoiled and glad to see a few people on here say he was solid. Not surprised with how good Settle was. Sad I didn't get to try out Deprive but I also only sided it in once. Cutting Command and probably SV as I've got a Kira and the 4th Selfless in the mail already. Feel like I want another lifegain option(have seen several burn decks) and another graveyard hate effect in the side. We'll see if my work schedule allows to go the other modern night this month, love playing these ghost dudes.
Thanks man, cool to see thay gave it a chance and showed what the deck is about. Hopefully someone else will be testing different Esper builts and will bring their contribution to this set of colours.
I geeked out when I saw the thumbnail in my feed since I knew you had recently 5-0'd. Congrats again! Been lurking for a long time but I don't think I've ever posted. Running a vial-less build with budget lands at current but I'm about to get some upgrades on the way. Hoping to help contribute to the thread in the relative future. Keep up the great work crew! I'm very interested in a janky Jeskai brew but Esper is definitely my favorite color combination and hoping for the continued success your having Streexit.
So my first foray into the Modern format was met with little success but much fun. I finished the night with a 1-3 record.
Match 1: 1-2 vs Grixis Through the Breach
Turns out Emrakul is a good Magic card, who knew? After sideboard and bringing in discard I was able to at least give my opponent a good fight. Winning game 2 on the back of discard and Sorin sealing the deal with +1 pump. Game 3 I wasn't able to get enough of a board quick enough after hitting him with multiple Thoughtseize and eventually got Emrakul'd
Match 2: 0-2 vs Devoted Druid CoCo
Lost game 1 to a turn four infinite mana combo into Duskwatch Recruiter and Walking Ballista. Game 2 was much longer and I was able to slow him down with removal and discard but eventually succumbed to a couple good hits off CoCo which overwhelmed my board.
Match 3: 2-1 vs Bogles
Game one opponent had a great opening hand and I couldn't keep up with his hexproof bogle. Game 2 I landed an opening Thoughtseize and he wasn't able to recover after that. Game 3 was similar, after hitting him with two discard he wasn't able to draw into more threats before I had my board online and overwhelmed him.
Match 4: 1-2 vs Infect
Game 1 was our best game of the match. It was fun evaluating when to block and when not to block, the attrition of it. Game 2 and 3 unfortunately went rather poor for me. Both games followed the same slow attrition battle of me blocking and removing creatures but in both games I hit pockets of 3-4 land draws in a row and that ended me both times.
Summary:
Even with my poor record I had a lot of fun playing the deck. I know a few of my losses came down to learning curve mistakes in opening hands and improper targets chosen for discard but I don't think my record would have changed much if at all. In all my games I always sideboarded in the 4 Thoughtseize. As far as card evaluations go I really liked Freebooter and Thalia's Lieutenant. Freebooter gave me some good G1 interaction and another flyer while Lt. was a great anthem that drew a lot of hate that I'd rather not have targeted at a sister. I do wonder if Honor of the Pure would just be better than Lt. since it buffs my spirits, vampires, and pridemate as well. Ayli only saw play once but her activated ability would not have been relevant since I never broke 30 life in any of my games. Thoughtseize, pain lands, and generally letting the opponents get a couple early hits in kept my life between 22-25 most games. Copter only made an appearance in the infect matchup where it died rather quickly but I want to run it a bit more because it feels like it has too much upside.
As of right now I can say that I will probably cut both Ayli and add another Freebooter and Lieutenant as well as potentially cutting 2 sisters and adding more G1 interaction or more token producers. Sideboard changes will also be made as well as I have seen at least some of my local meta and got and idea of what some of the people I didn't play against are playing.
@GreenSkyDragon:
I think Bitterblossom would be awesome and I've wondered if going a bit more token heavy with it and Secure the Wastes would be a good course of action. I'll probably try it out at some point but won't be for a little while as I'm on a slight budget at current. I do like the idea of Dusk/Dawn replacing Servitude, would like to test.
@BoBoCTiberius:
I'm actually running 22 lands but yeah gaining another card would be good. I'd agree it's at least worth trying, usually pretty easy to flip the card.
This is the build I'm going to finally take up to FNM this next week. The only difference is I'm currently missing the two Rest in Peace are Dryad Militant for a couple more weeks. The last SB slot is still blank but I'm not too worried because I'll get a better idea after I see some of my local meta. I got the idea of the humans subtheme from a SCG article a while back. Using pain lands as a budget for Marsh Flats and copter for Dark Confidant. Overall I like the look of the deck on paper but I can't wait to get some actual games in and test it out. I'll report back next weekend. Any feedback is welcome.
I know someone took Sultai Delirium to Atlanta this weekend. Hoping we see a decklist and some results from that. Here's the build I'm hoping to test soon at my next FNM. http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/11-03-17-sultai/
I don't have Premium so I can't read the whole article myself but I really like the idea of using cycling to build delirium rather that self mill. I kept two Grapple with the Past in my build because I like the extra creature recursion and is a good Gearhulk target.
So with BW control not being as strong as it used to I figured I might go ahead and change up my deck some. I've wanted to run Esper before and thought this might be an opportunity to at least try it out. I've read through the thread some and looked at Control based articles on SCG and CFB and have a good idea on how I'm wanting it to run. I won't be able to attend Gameday this next weekend but I figure I can at least sleeve up some proxies of what few cards I'm missing to help my friends practice for the weekend and try it out the deck. The mana base worries me but it looks similar to what a lot of others in the thread are running and I'm questioning my numbers on targeted removal and counters. I also really like Stasis Snare but I'm wondering if Murder would just be better to avoid the turn three double white. If anyone would be willing to look it over and critique it would be much appreciated.
I think you're right - trying to get T2 BB, and then T3 1UU AND 1WW is going to hurt, especially seeing as there's not really any other cards that you need to play in white that early. You should already have the BB from Grasp by T3 for Murder, plus you're aiming for it for Tendrils too. I also like Glare as an answer to a T2 Copter when we're on the draw(swinging in on T3 when we have only 2 mana down). Glimmer of Genius is probably the best draw spell we have available to us right now. I'd consider upping your numbers to (probably) 3, so maybe a 2/3 split with Anticipate instead of 4/1?
I think that if you're going to run a lot of walkers, you need to be more of a tap-out deck (which BW tended to be as well), whereas right now your list seems to be hovering between tap-out and draw-go. Have a look at the Shaheen Soorani Esper list in the original post, as that has a "superfriends" mentality to it, and could be close to what you want to do. Notice that there's no Gearhulks in that list, as there are fewer targets for it to flash back. That could be a good place to run Thing in the Ice, as it's another early threat that you can bounce with your low cost spells, and survives your own Tendrils.
Adding to this, Oath of Jace and maybe Lili should probs be in here somewhere.
Yeah I figured I was trying to do too much between both a proactive and reactive build. I felt like Dovin, counters, and blue hulk are the reasons to add blue in the first place. I've already changed up the list which I won't post here so I don't clog up the thread but I'll put a link for it into my signature. I cut the MB counters, stasis snare, blue hulk, and glimmer of genius and anticipate is down to 2 copies. Oath of Jace, Murder, and Quarantine Field moved in. I think I'll also build a second list that fits more into a draw-go style as well.
I'll try and get some testing done with my friends soon and put up some FNM results after I get the rest of the cards gathered. Hopefully then I can contribute to the discussion. Thanks for the replies!

So any comments or suggestions before I drop all my store credit on these shinies? Also anyone think Heron's Grace Champion would be a good include for Knights in general? Thanks in advance
