Alright, here it is! The new hallowed fountain.

Thank you! That'd be the one I saw 100%.

Yeah, I guess if they are part of the cycle of shocks that could still be watery grave which (kinda) fits.

    Anyway,
I think this is the art Sadrach spotted, the "hallowed fountain"

I'll try to snag a better shot, this ones kinda weak.

EDIT: Attached the full pic of Sacred Foundry I finally found

Nope, not that art. I know the original shocks. This wasn't one of them - looked new. I believe it was during the first match, with Finkel. Can't be more specific than that though. Sorry.

I could swear I saw something that looked like a Hallowed Fountain too. It was a huge open courtyard in white and blues, a fountainlike thing in the middle, and it had waterfalls cascading down two huge towers.

You know if they just mass printed these things in booster pack form and sold them at walmart then there would be no high price of them. Everyone who wanted them would most likely but 4 boosters. I want the urborg tomb of yagmoth, and I would buy 4 boosters to get 4 copies at $4.00 each. Making these cards so super exclusive defeats the point of reprinting them.

Also arguing about old legacy reprints in a from the vaults set is also really dumb since the price of these cards will most likely be higher then their legacy counterparts. It begs the question why bother reprinting them at all if you are going to sell them at such a high price that the price of the card will stay the same?

I'm interested in seeing what they print up, but if it costs more then a booster pack it's just not worth it.
I could do with out the large box that I am going to throw out.
I could also do with out
    - An exclusive spindown life counter (junk)
    - A collector's guide. (junk)

I suspect you are not the target market for this product if you think like this.

  • posted a message on GP Atlanta Playmat
    Hey everyone,

Was just thinking - I'm going to my first GP this coming weekend, and I've heard (and seen) playmats given out to the first XXX people to sign up for any given GP. I decided to do some sleuthing, trying to find the playmat for Atlanta, and was unable to turn anything up.

Anyone have any word/knowledge on the GP Atlanta playmat? Will there be one? What does it look like?

Yeah, I was curious of the rational behind that myself.

Everyone knows that playing fantasy games is like...one step away from worshipping Satan himself! It's worse than playing video games - and THOSE make you shoot up schools.

Everyone knows that. The news said so.

    Hey everyone,

As some of you are no doubt aware, the Star City Games Invitational is this weekend in Baltimore.

Just wanted to toss this in here as a show of support. One of the members of our little tokens community – Vishra – is qualified for the event this weekend, and I’m under the impression that he’ll be playing tokens in the main event. I was at the IQ where he qualified without dropping a match the whole day. He’s a quality player and personally, I think he deserves to clean up.

Wish him luck, and maybe he’ll grace us with updates if he’s got time between rounds.

All the best, Vishra! May all your virtues be intangible. Don’t forget that Kessig Wolf Run can make Batterskull miserable. Just kill it with Elspeth this time, alright?

Yea...creative did say something about Avacyn being a planeswalker.

    Specifically, that she wasn't one.

First off, playing a global effect in the mirror is just setting yourself up for a loss. I'm going to assume you're boarding out all the things Stony Silence would stop. So, either they boarded them out as well, and you're both on pariety (albeit with dead cards), or you boarded them out and he didn't, which gives him the advantage in any situation where you don't draw stony silence.

And if you do manage to land it, he has a dead card, unless he destroys your enchantment...which is a relevant thing to be able to destroy against a deck that runs anthems. I know the list that top-64'd baltimore was running Ray of Revelation with the mirror in mind. I personally run Naturalize. I don't think anyone expecting to win is running nothing.

Using Stony Silence as tech in the mirror is absurd.

Past that, you say that it can be used to stop Swords or Bombs. Great. In the process, it's constraining your own deck, not allowing you to play your own Shines or Swords. Playing 2 cards that narrowly answer the 2-3 swords in their deck and nothing else is horrible. It's about the same for Ratchet Bomb, especially when most control decks will be running Black Sun's Zenith or Corrosive Gale anyway - so there's no guarantee that your board won't be wiped anyway.

Ratchet Bomb isn't the issue. In a well constructed Tokens deck, you can rebuild from it with almost no issue. It's a speed bump, not a road block.

So, you're worried about a t2 bomb killing your anthems on turn 5?

I wouldn't be terribly worried about that, especially since you can hold anthems in reserve as soon as they move the bomb off of 0 and just play token generators instead.

I would recommend adding a single swamp, so that you can find it with the evolving wilds if you have to.

I'd also recommend four Lingering Souls, because that card is the stone-cold-nuts.

In general, I would recommend that you run more creatures, and less support cards. While 18 cards-that-make-creatures seems like a good number, if you consider that's less than a third of your deck, it starts to feel very inconsistant, especially since 3 of those don't deal damage on their own.

Overall, a decent start! Will be watching for future iterations.

Hey everyone. I took Top 4 at a SCG IQ with my BWG Tokens deck. Another tokens player - who goes by Vishra on here - took first prize with BW Tokens.

I've done a writeup of my portion in the tournament that can be found here.

    The short form:

    Swiss Rounds:
    2-0 vs Mono Green
    2-0 vs Mono Red
    2-0 vs UB Zombies
    Intentional Draw in Round 4
    Intentional Draw in Round 5
2-0 in Top 8 vs Burning Vengeance Reanimator
0-2 in Top 4 vs RG Aggro.

Losses against RG Aggro were entirely my own fault. Vishra crushed him in convincing fashion for the final.

Ratchet Bomb doesn't kill our deck if it's built well. We're not a werewolves deck. We rarely, if ever, run out of ways to produce creatures. Between Lingering Souls flashback, walkers, our anthems, and Hero of Bladehold/Other Finishers, we're able to put out enough pressure with only a creature or two on the field.

If you're consistently losing to ratchet bomb, you're overextending. The decks that run Ratchet Bomb aren't, for the most part, running Swords or Shrines, so you'll rarely be able to 'splash hate' other cards. Sideboarding it in isn't worth the loss in tempo you get from casting a 2-mana do-nothing spell.

Just run Shrine of Loyal Legions, or more copies of Hero of Bladehold, or answers to cards that actually hurt us significantly.

    Mountaindew:

Unfortunately, Geist, while powerful, synergizes poorly with the rest of the deck. The anthem effect is nice, but the token from Geist doesn't benefit from vigilance at all. Worse, if this deck has a flaw, it is that it is succeptible to board wipes giving them a 2-3 for one. This is also the primary weakness of Geist of St. Traft.

Compare to Hero of Bladehold, who, because of her higher toughness, resists red and black board wipes, as well as ratchet bomb.

Geist is a great card in decks that can be fought primarily with spot removal, or who rely on equip effects to resolve. We are neither so, while Geist is absurd in a lot of matchups, it's lackluster here.

That said, it could find a sideboard slot against some deck somewhere, I'm sure.
