I'm trying to find out how to get in touch with the Magic Artist - Christopher Rush - cause I'd like to get a few cards signed...
As far as I've figured out thus far, the Artist that goes by chrisrush3_at_gmail is NOT the same artist as the person that did the WotC artwork. Thus far, I've not been able to track down the correct artist yet. So... Does anyone know exactly how to track down Mr. Christopher Rush, the artist for the Lightning Bolts and Black Lotus?
I'm not sure why the average matters to us. The average Black Lotus is not in mint condition - it was probably pulled from a booster pack more than 10 years ago. But if we find a black lotus in this booster box, it's guaranteed to be in mint condition.
If we find a black lotus in this booster box, shouldn't we compare it to the 100k black lotus rather than the "average" black lotus?
It may be in "Near-Mint to Mint", but that doesn't mean that it's a PSA 9+ or PSA10+ quality of card. The $100k Lotus that you are referencing is a PSA 10 grade Lotus. Only about a small number of them have existed thus far.
Most of the games I played end up with both planeswalkers running away and summoning random creatures. If one of those has fliers, that one wins. Otherwise, it's bassically who can amass the biggest ammount of critters and swarm the opponent.
If you thought that, then I'm surprised that your not getting destroyed by decks with Obliterate, Bogardon Hellkite, and Pyroclasm in them.
Amassing the most creatures doesn't necessarily win you the game. Better board positions do, and having global destruction effects for when your opponent over extends gives you a great advantage.
In general, I don’t think printing cards like Lotus Petal is a good idea; they either end up unplayable or broken, with little middle ground. Yes, players get all excited about them because they reference famous other cards, but then they’re either let-downs or mistakes. They’re never “reasonable.” That said, they do carry a lot of nostalgic weight, and I have heard Lotus Petal mentioned recently as a possible Core Set card at some point in the future. We’d have to be really sure things around it were totally safe, but I guess it isn’t out of the question.
Since WotC has locked close the issue of ever reprinting Dual Lands. Can we get the Collector's Editions made legal for Eternal Formats? At least that would (almost) double the available supply of Dual Lands for usage...
As a game designer, I only understand banning something to fix game balance. Money should never have anything to do with it. Preventing conditions for money to affect the game should be the way, not banning the ending result.
WotC and the DCI has set that precedent several years ago, with some of the early bannings in Legacy. They specifically called out Monetary value as a valid reason for banning.
This Thread and backlash from the new reprint policy is an excellent example of WHY i Legacy is to live on, that all cards on the Reserved List have to be considered for banning based on Monetary Value.
So, you bought revised duals at 3 and are now upset that people might find it a more onerous barrier to entry that they cost 40+?
When Duals were rotating out of Standard, and again when they were rotating out of Extended, I had over 160 Dual Lands that I got from cheap trades. I sold them all off at $5 each at PTQs and Prereleases, and I made I profit doing that.
Now that Dual Lands are going to exceed $100 each... We need to revamp Legacy as a format, and BAN ALL DUAL LANDS. ... Just like previous bans that were based on secondary market value, Dual Lands should be no exception to that rule.

"RE: The Reserved List - It's hard to defend a decision I can't talk about. It's just something we're going to have to live with. :("
So, Hasbro didn't do anything. Also, Rosewater (at least) is not allowed to talk about it under something like an NDA or Decree of Pain. Ugh.
I suspect that they had to answer to a number of thier BOSS's about the decision to reprint the Phyrexian Negator and previous Judge Foils, and all of the comotion that it caused. Most Likely, they had to answer to Bill Rose and Greg Leeds and Loren Greenwood about what they were doing.
In the end, we will never had as good of Duel Decks or Premium Series special prints ever again. Hell, there is no longer a reason to even have a Legacy Grand Prix or PTQ scheduled in the future, as that format will be forced to die a slow, painful deck of inaccessability.
I just don't understand how the "Needs for the Corporation" (the One) outweight the "Good of the Customers" (The Many).
If Legacy doesn't die within the next 8-10 months, then I can see Dual Lands hitting $200+ now. WotC set the precident before, where cards were Banned from Legacy soley due to secondary market price. NOW -- We'll need to Ban the Dual Lands from Legacy as well.
Erm, never once seen any evidence of this. I only remember a Rosewater (I think it was him) joke from years ago about it...
They infact do have a "Vault" like Warehouse of old product. It's referred to as "The Closet". It's been talked about by Rosewater recently, and by other members of R&D previously as well as other sources. They generally keep old "special" cards in it for unique events, such as having a Beta Draft @ Worlds each year and collections of Promo Foils since the early 1990s. No-one from WotC is allowed to use the secondary market for their cards in order to avoid the appearence of ethics issues, and as time goes on... old rares from drafting at the office tends to get collected into the The Closet as well as boxes of product. Before Hasbro bought WotC, 'The Closet' was split between Richard Garfield's and Peter Adkison's offices.
Remember a few years ago, when the full case of Arabian Nights was put up for Auction...? That was from a private collection of a former WotC's board of directors member, and he got that from his original investing into the company. There is probably tons of stuff like this still sitting in some unused offices of WotC.
Watch it... One of the reasons that they may have decided to do this, beside it was cool and splashy and gets people interest going.... was that they needed the additional Office Space for Brand.
Very smooth transaction.
Thanks

...and I've gotten only 7 Mythics out of the 3 boxes.
Is this a common occurrence for MM for other people? Did WotC scale down the number of Mythics per box, because of the # of Foils per box?
...NOTE: Most sets average about ~5 Mythics per box.

...you could of at least reference the ACTUAL source of the Preview Card -- This is the Official MTGCast Preview Card for Mirrodin Besieged.
I'm not sure when it changed, but it appears to now be only 16k.
So was Voltaic Key...
Your point?

From Aaron's Random Card Comment of the day... Posted the day after that the M12 set was officially announced.
....coincidence? I think not...

Let's Start the Marches --- BAN DUAL LANDS.
