    i have not, my first hestiation is it targets. tho that just limits its use doesnt eliminate.

    the reason i went with into the roil is it starts as a bounce, and ends up being card draw too with more mana. i like things that do 2 or more things at once. hence curfew, into the roil, muddle, etc. snap does look good tho. im been struggling for what to remove to try veiled sentry, i could give it a try, have4 to pick up the cards.

    so i think ive made an AWESOME illusions deck, that plays with amazing flexibility and consistancy, and aside from one specific card, is pretty cheap to build. First the deck, then the cards explained.



    I consider the illusion suit of bear, image, lord, and mist to be staples in any illusion deck. all strong, all work well together.

    aether figment imo one of the best illusion beaters next to krovikan mist and with lords and kicker cost it can be a winner.

    curfew this card is just MADE for this deck and illusions. 1 mana, instant speed, save your own guy and set your opponent back one turn? hellz ya, use it to save your lord, change up your image, re-use your snapcaster, etc.

    into the roil like a mini cryptic command with half its abilities for the same cost. great way to gain card advantage.

    telling time this one i imagine is more preference, i like it cuz i can transmute for it, its instant, and lets me dig 3 deep.

    muddle the mixture one of the best damn cards in the deck. most of the deck is 2 mana, letting you tutor nearly your ENTIRE deck. including snapcaster, your lord, or an image! never again do you need to worry about not having the card you need when you need it...most of the time anyways.

    snapcaster mage on of the other best damn cards in the deck, and pricey too. being able to bring back a key muddle, curfew, or roil is priceless, image can copy it which is helpful once in a while, and the fact you can bounce it back to you to reuse. basically this+muddle the mixture=having what you need when you need it.

    this deck really takes off once you hit five mana, being able to pay kickers, snapcaster, etc. Just try it before you knock it, its performing stellar for me thus far.

    im not as good at building decks as you guys are. But id say my fav 1v1 decks ive made is bloodbraid aggro R/G deck and my mono U illusions ive been working on. illusions are just fun imo, and very flavorful.

    multiplayer i enjoy grixis style shenanigins or Jund counter/token decks.

    ya i know that, i just like keeping it light if you will. i hate high mana cost spells lest im playing pure control, cheating it in, or am using ramp.

    so adjusted deck.

    -2 hover barrier
    -1 vapor snag
    -1 jace's phantasm
    -2 preordain
    -4 gitaxian probe
    +3 into the roil
    +2 telling time
    +3 aether figment
    +2 illusory angel

    this should give me more relevant threats, more things to tutor with muddle, but reduce the speed that i can draw (gitaxian probe being free potentially).

    should leave me with 8 bounce, 4 counter, 8 possible draw. I like the card sleep quite a bit but if i find the relevant threats consistant enough i may take them out and move them to sideboard, adding 2x gitaxian probe or veiled sentry

    i think im on board with aether figment and possibly illusory angel. tho i dont want to make the deck to heavy. tho ive never had good luck with using pumps like unstable mutation

    the angel is decent later in the game i admit, but i disagree with phantasmal dragon whole heartedly. its a fun card, but even with added consistancy that muddle brings for protection, and the fact that curfew doesnt actually target. there will be times where you want a card to stand on its own, and the dragon just doesnt. for 4 mana investment id rather cast sleep and go for the win.

    id consider my Mist a beater, and when i get more veiled sentry it stands to be quite useful too. id consider phantom warrior a side deck card for when your flyers cant get around other creatures, and even then, you still have to 2x sleep in the deck for a reason!

    the bear is just for early threats.

    i can see getting the angel to replace the barriers definitly.

    edit: im gonna get more into the roils as i think into the roil+curfew is a good set for bounce/protection and draw potential. looking at maybe more telling time.

    editx2: i can also agree on the phantasm comment, a 1/1 flyer for U is still "decent" tho i think, and its ability when reached is quite nice. its something ill play with a bit at 1 or 2 of in the deck before i make a final decision.

    wooo i stopped by my local store today and bought some more cards. sadly they only had one veiled sentry and NO counterspell but here is what i have and ill give my thoughts after.



    As you can see its fairly typical in that it uses cheap illusions, some counters, and some draw power.

    What i like about it is how cheap the deck is. most of the cards cost only 1 or 2 mana. with 2 costing 3 and 2 costing 4 mana. This gives you plenty of mana left over for instants and such.

    Some of the spells i only have so many of atm so thats how many are in the deck (into the roil, veiled sentry, etc) and i want to get a set of counterspell eventually.

    Things im uncertain of are Jace's Phantasm as he can be a win con at the point where he gets pumped, and hes merely a convenient chump before then. so i only put one in since i mostly want to see him later in the game.

    hover barrier im also unsure of as the creatures are generally supposed to be aggressive

    Veiled Sentry i consider a exception to this since it only costs 1 mana and can become a deadly creature for just 1 mana

    muddle the mixture i really like as its a counterspell, and can tutor for my lord of the unreal lending more consistancy to the deck.

    curfew to help protect my lord and change up my images.

    what do you think? im liking it but have to get some playtime in with it.

    @DX.Arcana i like some of your deck, the suspend is fun too. tho i think its a bit slow for a aggro deck, having no real 1 drops and such. tho i can see once you get the ball rolling it gets a lot of momentum.

    ok i def have some ideas.

    veiled sentry This card i think really supports the idea of aggro/control. holding out until you can win with your win conditions.

    and the win conditions are Krovikan Mist a staple in any illusions deck and possibly Jace's Phantasm ?

    phantasmal image acts as duplicates to important cards while muddle the mixture provides tutor for my lord of the unreal as well as my counterspell

    put in some bears, some phasing to further protect things like my lords. this is starting to look like a solid deck!

    ill come up with a decklist when i can, for now...work

    purely casual of course.

    i have most of the major illusion cards people have incorporated, as well as some others. but the general theme is requiring too many pieces to be a relevant threats on there own, making the decks feel disjointed imo (sun titan/wrath of god illusions, artifact illusions, etc)

    the thing is, illusions are a bit flimsy on there own, naturally. im looking for some way to supplement them. My first thought is changeling tho there are very few cards that work with that. tho some that can be relevent threats on there own not really requiring but still benefiting from some cards in the illusion deck roster. (thinking the rare changeling bull for starters)

    looking for fresh ideas on a old topic i guess.

    pretty much title, ive been away a while when i was playing illusions was being talked about by a few peopl eand being used to great effect. Just wondering what exactly changed to make it seem to dissapear.
