My casual playgroup ages are as follows: 24, 25, 31, 33, 36, 37
Most people at my my store are 20+ . You're never too old for magic. Playing the game with a lot of disposable income is way better than buying a pack or two every few weeks with allowance
The old leave 2 islands untapped for a couple turns trick has won me a couple games. Every once in a while I'll also grab for my dice/paper pad right before attack phase then quickly put it back trying to lead them into attacking. Counting cards in GY's/hands when you have no play can totally bluff people out too. Whenever I'm playing my deck I always try to allude to having some card that is not in my hand. I love little subliminal tricks like that, leading people into making bad decisions can really turn games around.
I remember the size of the prereleases being a lot different. Back in the day one card shop in the city would have a prerelease and it would draw about 200-400 people in a community hall. Now every card shop in the city has their own prerelease with about 30-60 people present. I'm glad they switched it up... one can't even imagine how badly those giant tourneys smelled after about 8 hours.
Well durr.. Everyone wins in magical christmas land!
