I feel the need to point out that it was never said that For Glory mode is strictly 1v1 matches, only that it would be possible to do it. The gameplay video playing during the explanation is a four player match, even!
The misconception about this is everywhere, though.
So, I did the unthinkable and decided to retool my pet deck from old!Niv-Mizzet to that new Champion on the block. Don't get me wrong, I loved draw-burn shenanegans, but my games with it tend to fall into the pattern of "wait out until I draw my Curiosity variant, and then Ultimate Firemind for the win" (in multiplayer, add Laboratory Maniac for good measure). So, it's time to break the cycle. I want to start learning to be a little more aggressive in strategy, so seeing Melek's ability appealed to me.
Admittedly, it wasn't easy to get this decklist down to 99+1. I have a growing pile of cards that I shortlisted to get to this point. Picking red cards was easy, blue... not so much. First, the list, then the questions.
1. Counterspells, more opportunities for damage, or extra turns?
2. Too many lands?
3. There's a decided lack of planeswalkers in this list, half on purpose and half because I don't have any of the ones I want as of yet. On the search list would be Ral Zarek, Chandra, the Firebrand, and Tamiyo, the Moon Sage.
Well, long time no see, my League compatriots! I thought that by now I'd have been sent the Izzet version of a pink slip since I've been away for a while. But I am glad to see that the clan is still in order.
Yeah, that's one thing I should mention: I started playing Champions shortly after the announcement. As much as I did love CoH, I did envy CO for certain things (like the huge variety of travel powers).
On its own merits, Champions is a respectable game. Not without faults, but it's good enough in my eyes.
This actually happened a couple nights ago, but indeed, CoH servers have been turned off for the final time. It was a long running game, having lasted over eight years and a record 23 major free content updates (with another in β testing at the time of the closure announcement at the end of August.
The distributing company, NCsoft, completely let go of the development team and axed the game to "refocus" their operations elsewhere, presumably for games that better cater to its main market in Asia (or so it is believed, since there was very little communication from the corporate end of things regarding the specifics of the why). Their persistence continued in the face of fan backlash, which was responded to a month later with unfavorable results.
As a now-former player, I'm certianly disappointed with the act of closing my first online game and the manner in which it was handled. I'm looking forward to moving to other things to try, though.
Personal discovery: well, I guess I have somewhat better luck with boosters when I purchase them out of town. Scored Worldspine Wurm today on my daytrip to... consult outside experts on personally interior matters.
The goblin abuse isn't necessary, Reg. You wouldn't want to waste of a fine assistant.
My mental condition hasn't been optimal this past week, though the search for my breakthrough continues.
(In non-RPing terms, I had a good friend and inspiration of mine pass away this week: today was his memorial. He was a member of the poetry group I attend, and would have been 100 next month.
I'm also still dealing with the fact that my main online game (City of Heroes) is still on course to shut down at the end of November, though I'm starting to play Champions Online and I kinda like it. Guiltily. Many of the concept characters I put time into have something that just can't be replicated in CO.
Beyond all of this, I still haven't had the drive to attempt to fix my Commander, even with all the new stuff. No Dracogenius pulled yet, though I did get-- no, it's nothing major. Thought it was.)
Now, you are probably already bored of my ramblings. Go and find me some blistercoil excretions, the kind that're still warm and meldable.
The misconception about this is everywhere, though.

Oh, look, I'm back-- to tell you I'm going to be away, since I'm moving.
Going to need boxes. Or teleportals. Whatever is easier.
Yep, leaving it at that.

Anyone see the Commander's Arsenal stuff? I love the new art for Duplicant, but the whole thing's probably out of my price range. :#
