These new promos (DotP Titans) to my understanding are available to people who buy the download of the game to their game consoles or application (appox $10-ish) and they get a code to redeem at their game store for the promo designated for that game.
I'm seeing a bunch of stores ebaying these things right now and making more than a pretty penny on something that is in effect not theirs to sell.
What recourse does a legit customer with a valid redemption code have when the store has sold all the promos on ebay?
What about the store that sells 12 or more of the (example: June FNM card - Rhox War Monk) in mid-May, even before the first FNM in June, or the store that's selling the new Game Day promos a full week before the actual Game Day event?
Keep in mind that the focus of this is solely on the behavior of stores and retailers that are shorting the players of prize support and incentive by what is in essence stealing from the Magic community.
In light that the promos are designated to be given as prizes and participation support for the players, and the observation that numerous sellers are peddling them out on ebay... what are your thoughts?
Regardless if your local store engages in this practice or not, is it right?
Are stores that do this justified in doing it?
Should it be ignored or stopped outright?
What impact does or would it have on you regarding your continued participation in Magic?
I am curious to hear other members opinions and comments on the practice of retailers and stores selling promotional items on ebay or thru other channels, instead of giving them to customers and participants like they are supposed to.
Just as soon as they fix it to breakdown after the repair warranty expires and they've made sure the critical replacement part is on intergalactic back-order because it was only made for your make and model, and serial number computer.
