Actually, if you're really new to the game, you should be getting an aggro deck, much easier to find your way around and learning the ins and outs of the deck. Once you get the feel for it, go expand your ideas and build new decks.

how do i know if it is a aggro deck?

Just play the deck and see what you like and don't like about the deck. Looking at the decklist, you want to focus the deck on using the Empire pieces so I would add more of each piece, maybe have 3 scepters, 3 crowns and 4 thrones. Maybe a couple of rune scarred demons (3) and add some diabolic tutors. This won't be the most competitive deck, but its a start.

Thanks guys this is a great start, I also found a new lgs where i am moving next week and they have a day during the week to help with new comers and deck creation so i plan on attending that to get some good tips.

you should buy an intro/event deck, learn how it works and add cards accordingly.

Other than that, your deck looks pretty scattered, you want to unify the deck and your card choices to one theme and use the cards which reinforces the theme.

I purchased the Grab for Power Intro Deck, any suggestions for cards that i should add or remove to make it ok for the time being?

I really just feel overwhelmed i mean i have a ton of cards and it seems like i can't do anything with them. It would be nice if there was somewhere i put in all my cards and it would tell me what i could make with what i have.

I made this deck using all the cards i have from m11 and m12 and some of the random boosters i got with my deck builders toolkit. I know it doesn't look like much but it is my first deck and i kinda just forced myself to try to make one i need suggestions on what i am missing or should be taken out. Thanks in advance.

Yeah this forum is actually one of the more civil in the MTG community. it's one of the reasons I haven't jumped ship, where the wizards forums I haven't been on since around Time Spiral.

It's getting better now i guess i just got some bad apples the first couple of days i was on here.

Drafting is a good way to go. Not only will it help build your collection, but it will build your confidence in playing Magic. It's a bit of an "even" playing field since it tests a different kind of skill than Constructed does. Anyone can copy down a hot decklist and play it well enough to win a pack or two... Drafting forces you to consider all cards in a set a bit differently since 80% of the cards in those sets are likely aimed at Limmited players.

But yeah, Blister Packs aren't in any set "order" so you never know what kind of rare/mythic you'll get.

I am really considering it i started using the Draft trainer on the wizards site and it has help alot. I just need to research how to base a draft deck off like one card or color. Any tips on drafting?

    Double-post merged.

I actually find these forums rather hospitable. Maybe it's the fact that the mods don't allow flaming, because if you compare these forums to playdota... Yeah.

Anyway, this link here - http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/arcana/119 -is where they announced six cards boosters. They say they don't guarantee the rarities, but expect 1 tips/token, 1 land, 3 common, 1 uncommon, and 1 additional card that may be any rarities (common through mythic). It seems like a pretty poor pick imo. Then again, maybe that's just because you can't draft with them (as effectively, I suppose you could). If you're referring to any other specific packs, people might know about those as well if you mention specifics. ie repacks at certain stores- there are threads on those discussing whether or not they are worth it and what people have opened, which you may find if you search around. Also, what do you mean by 'on card boosters'? I see you ask about them, then about ones from boxes, then six carders.

In any case, it depends what you are looking for, largely. If you think any card is cool, a box or fat pack is a decent addition to a collection, if you are going for size (also I recommend drafting (two man if you can't get more)/pack wars to open the packs). If you know the cards in a set, cracking packs becomes a bit less exciting, and there are ways to plan out a deck before any purchasing. If you do that, you can get a list ready and just buy singles from an online store, which will be significantly cheaper than any sort of mass opening. Draft is the biggest reason to get boosters, the excitement of not knowing what you may get is second imo (and not available to most players that know the game well), and getting cards is pretty low on the list.

Thanks for the info! I have had some friends say that i need to draft i'm just too scared to make my own deck confidently yet to try it. I purchased a 2011 Deck Builders tool Kit as well as a ton of m12 boosters, and the m12 pre-constructed deck Grab for Power. The boosters i was asking about are the blister boosters, they are the only ones that are sold here at wal-mart. they are pretty much one m12 booster in its own package.

Are the chances the same in getting good cards from a on card booster, compared to just pulling a booster from a box? How do 6 card boosters work is there still rares in those? Sorry for the newbish question i just got curious.

Tournament organizers usually provide basic land for drafts. If they do not, they are required to announce this before registration.

do you have to give it back in the end?

I know we're getting out of rulings territory here, but I wanted to answer anyways. If you want to compete in FNM's and whatnot on a budget, I'd recommend getting one of the Innistrad event decks (not the precons) when they come out. They're solid decks out of the box. Also, if you want to start building your collection, learn how to draft. It's a fun format, and right now's perfect because it's core set drafting which is an easy format to learn in. You get three packs of cards every time you draft, plus prizes, and it starts building your collection into something that will let you tweak your standard decks with.

I am currently looking into playing draft i think it seems like a fun format i'm just confused on where you get land from doing draft.
