I have built and am currently testing a GUbw list that uses Birthing Pod and Heartless Summoning. So far in testing the deck seems pretty nuts and has a lot of really good interactions. If anyone is interested I would be willing to post the list.
This format feels really forced right now. With the bannings and control's weak showing, the format is filled with glass cannons. There isn't a single deck here that I would enjoy taking to a tournament as I feel like so many games are decided by just opening hands. I wouldn't mind going back to the first set of bannings and see if Cawblade will be so degenerate in a format where there is a deck that stomps it. Hypergenesis just needs to stay banned.
This is what I have been testing and it is really strong so far. I may be able to switch a few things in and out, but I'd like to see what people think first.
U/w with gifts ungiven packages and a decent Trinket Mage package is the way to go in my opinion. It doesn't have the same blazing speed at getting out eldrazi that U/g might but it was infinitely more consistent and resilient in testing.
So due to the removal of a lot of main deck'd artifact and enchantment hate from Stoneforge's banning, what about Hive Mind Pact. It seems like a solid deck in theory.
Also, there has to be a control deck somewhere, even if it is R/W board control or something to that effect.
This topic gives a quick overview of the format and a look at decks that are successful without having to sift through every topic on the forum. It really isn't that abstract of an idea to have a general discussion about the format on the format's board.
Ok, this is just a quick post that I will fill in with more details later, but I feel we need a discussion on the new state of the format. We need a topic with little to no discussion of the bannings. Let's use this as a brainstorming topic for us as a community to come up with some good decks. Keep the discussion civil.
Also let's keep the OMGZ Zoo and 12-post will ruin the format to a minimum as both decks are beatable.
My first contribution, what are the thoughts of the other two cascade decks; living end and restore balance?
As many of you have seen my ranting already, I will spare most of it. I must say though, this format just changed completely with these bannings, and honestly I don't know if it changed for the better. Almost all of these bannings are questionable, but some of the questionable ones are fine. The problem comes in some of the silliest bannings. I really don't want to play a format where every time a combo becomes the top deck a piece of it gets the ban hammer. I also would rather not play a format where the only option is turning creatures sideways or ramping into Emrakul.
I'm down for a tournament. However, I would also like to have a sit down chat on cockatrice or another program with the members of MTGSalv in order to discuss the metagame being created.
Honestly, Zoo should be one of this deck's best matchups. You have answers and better creatures. Even if you throw them off their tempo a bit with counter's like remand, you are way ahead in this matchup. If you really need to though, I'm sure this deck could have mass removal in the sideboard for sligh/zoo matchups, although I don't think its necessary.
Being a player of Maverick in Legacy and trying to port it to Modern, there is a few problems with the deck. The most notable problem is it's complete inability to deal with all-in combo decks. The reason this is possible in legacy is due to the free counters in other decks that keep players from attempting all-in combo decks.
With that being said, another problem is the lack of utility lands that make Maverick so powerful in Legacy like Karakas and Gaea's Cradle. Maverick is a deck that settled into a metagame that favored it greatly. Modern, on the other hand, has no defined metagame for this deck to tune to. On top of that, the deck has very unfavorable matchups against hypergenesis and elves as they can go off without any sort of problem.
Although I see the appeal of keeping this deck a single color, why restrict the creative thought process by making the primer just mono color?
I have a U/g version that in testing seems to play well. It barely plays any green spells, but the few it does helps the deck roll a little more smoothly.
What are the thoughts on JtMS? For the most part I don't like him, and I'm not going to go out of my way to acquire a play set of him for this deck. I haven't really play tested him, however, and I was wondering on how powerful he was in the deck.

Also is cascade swans playable?

I am not sure about the deck list completely, however, I figured this would be the place to come for some creative thinking.
