How has Thalia performed for you? I think Eldrazi Displacer is too good of a card to leave out of the 75 in grindy matchups, that could be an easy improve to the maindeck.
Out of the board, I think 2x Disenchant is necessary to deal with pesky Blood Moon and Leyline of Sanctity, but definitely depends on your local meta.
That doesn't sound like a good idea to me. The problem I see with it, is that Expedition Map requires you to waste your turn 1 and 2 mana to get a marginal mana advantage from turn 3 on. In that case, you are not casting Inquisition of Kozilek, Thoughtseize or Tidehollow Sculler in favor of more explosive starts with big eldrazis on turn 4 and 5 and, in my opinion, disruption is more important than going full aggro with the deck.
Brief report of the tournament: GAME 1 WIN (2-0) against Death and Taxes: First game I start with an Inquisition of Kozilek followed by two Tidehollow Sculler on turn 2 and 3. After that, he could never get back into the game and my Eldrazi finished it rather quickly. Game two he keeps a risky hand with only 1 white source. On turn 2 he plays a Leonin Arbiter and I Ghost Quarter his Plains. He couldn't find another white source until it was already too late as next turn I was attacking for lethal with a Reality Smasher. Ratchet Bomb was an MVP from the sideboard during the game, killing two Golem tokens that were stopping me from attacking.
MATCH 2 WIN (2-0) against Dredge: My opponent mullingans down to 4 both games so he never had much of a chance. Second game I cast a Rest in Peace and he instantly concedes.
MATCH 3 TIE (1-1-1) against Grixis Delver: It was interesting to see a Grixis deck that didn't play Death's Shadow during the tournament as I had never ran across this matchup. Game 1 I start with lots of hand disruption taking a Delver of Secrets off my oponent hand with an Inquisition of Kozilek, a Terminate with a Tidehollow Sculler on turn two and a [card]Tasigur,
the Golden Fang[/card] with a Thought-Knot Seer on turn three. Sadly, my oponnent top decks a Fatal Push to deal with the Sculler, getting back his Termine and killing my Seer while he was spitting tokens with a Young Pyromancer onto the battlefield. I never managed to draw more removal for the Pyromancer and the Tasigur he drew next and lost. Game two I don't remember very well, but it was long and really close. He managed to put me down to 4 life, but an attack from Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet and Thought-Knot Seer and the activation of Vault of the Archangel took me out of range of his Lightning Bolts. We didn't have much time for game three and ended up with a tie.
MATCH 4 WIN (2-0) against Scapeshift: This is not a great matchup, but I its winnable if you open up with two or three discard spells to take out his win conditions. Game one I start off with probably the most busted hand the deck can get with a turn 1 Thoughtseize into Tidehollow Sculler and 2x Thought-Knot Seer to disarm my opponent's hand and pressure his life total. In game two, the story repeated as I managed to disarm his hand with Inquisition of Kozilek and Tidehollow Sculler followed by Lingering Souls and Reality Smasher to increase the pressure. I feel I drew very well this match and in no way this outcome reflects how difficult dealing with a resolved Scapeshift or Primeval Titan can be.
MATCH 5 WIN (2-0) against Jund: Jund is probably one of the best match ups for the deck in my opinion. Game one I start off without discard for the first few turns, but manage to kill a Tarmogoyf with a Fatal Push. I play two Lingering Souls from my hand on turn 3 and 4, but get blown out by a Scavenging Ooze, that inmediately exile the sorceries from the graveyard and a Maelstrom Pulse takes care of the Spirits already in play. After killing the Ooze with a Wasteland Strangler thanks to some cards exiled with Relic of Progenitus, Reality Smasher comes in and takes the game over in a couple of turns. Game 2 I start with a disruptive hand, managing to discard Liliana of the Veil and some Kolaghan's Command from my opponent's hand. After that I Path to Exile a Tarmogoyf and my opponent can't deal with a couple of Eldrazis with the Fatal Push in his hand.
MATCH 6 INTENTIONAL DRAW
QUARTERFINALS LOSS (1-2) against Abzan Company: Game one I mulligan to six and keep a hand with Inquisition of Kozilek and Tidehollow Sculler which show me that my opponent has Collected Company, Vizier of Remedies, Chord of Calling, Devoted Druid and Qasali Pridemage in hand. I try to discard some of the combo pieces, but the deck is too redundant and ends up assembling infinite life with Kitchen Finks. Game two, after some aggro play from both of us, my opponent misplays and leaves himself open to a Reality Smasher which gives me the game. Game three I never find the fourth land that would've allowed me to cast the 2 Thought-Knot Seer and Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet from my hand, but manage to stay in game with lots of removal for his combo pieces. In the end, I wasn't able to find an answer for his Gavony Township, which gave him the game.
Overall I think the deck performed really well. I think I'm sticking with the current sideboard as the one-ofs give me a lot of options against unknown fields. 4 Abzan Company decks showd up to the tournament and 2 got to the top8, so I will try to replace Ethersworn Canonist with Flaying Tendrils as I've heard the card is good against that kind of strategy. The manabase still feels a little clunky and I would love to squeeze a Wastes in to fight Blood Moon and to fetch againt Path to Exile, but I don't know what should I replace it for since all the utility lands have proven to be really useful. Blood Baron of Vizkopa is another card I want to try that is useful against Grixis Death's Shadow and Jund/Abzan, but it might be a little bit of an overkill since we already have easy matchups against them.
I would love some suggestions on how to improve the deck and sideboard.
I think you have good judgement with the cards you wish to include, I would recommend them all. Creature count is actually too high right now, run quality over quantity, as black has great tutoring and card draw. You want to boost them or run higher power for cost creatures.
I would cut in the least Liliana - too slow, Coat of Arms - too symmetrical as it will benefit others, Altar of Dementia - in theory it is good, but clashes with commander and Carrion Feeder/Viscera Seer - as while they are combo enablers, I don't need you need them with the current style of your deck.
Thanks for the suggestions! I haven't had enough time to test Liliana by myself since I just got her via pucatrade, but I'm gonna see how it performs. I think her +1 ability is great, since this deck loves to play a land every turn and her -X ability works pretty well with Gisa.
Coat of Arms has been a powerhouse in the games I've gotten to play it. I usually slam it when I already have a huge army of zombies to finish the game and swing for lethal and luckily there aren't a whole lot of other token players in my playgroup.
Altar of Dementia seems like a clear cut to me. Ashnod's Altar and Phyrexian Altar are way better IMO. Thanks for the suggestion.
So, after a good while of being retired of mtg in general because of the price of cards and overall being a little burnt out of standard I decided to get back to commander just in time to buy a C14 precon. Of all possible legends available within the decks, the one that I thought was the most fun, had a cool lore and an awesome picture which reminded me of my favorite card of all time, Braids, Cabal Minion, was Ghoulcaller Gisa so I decided to stick to her and buy the black deck. However, the other cards of the deck didn't fit the zombie theme I wanted to build her around so I decided to so something from scratch with some cards I previously owned.
The overall strategy of the deck is pretty simple: play some undercosted big guys and ramp to play Gisa to sac them for lots of zombies. The deck runs some ammount of anthems to make the zombies pretty deadly. In case the plan fails, it runs some generic black goodstuff and some combos mainly regarding Ashnod's Altar and Nim Deathmantle to make lots of tokens with Grave Titan/Wurmcoil Engine. If I could get a Phyrexian Altar I could go infinite with Gisa+Thornbite Staff or Gravecrawler+Blood Artist/Falkenrath Noble.I would love some sugestions on what to add and most of all, on what to cut from the deck. My budget is kind of limited, so I can't afford cards more expensive than 10 bucks. Without further ado, I present you Gisa, the mad Bride.
What do you think on the cards I want to put in? Do you have any suggestions on what to cut to make room for them? Is the creature card count too low for a deck which is primarly based on saccing dudes? Suggestions are really appreciated.
Yeah, I too started out with this list and have made modifications from what I think fits my playstyle and adapts to my meta. My playgroup is really light on graveyard hate so I pretty much always do well, but they're seriously considering adding some...
Erebos is an excelent suggestion, I completely forgot he was also an enchantment. I was thinking something along the lines of Dark Prophecy before you suggested Erebos and now I think I'm gonna have to find place for both of them. I already cut Angelic Renewal for Gift of Immortality since it wasn't doing enough besides the infinite combo with Sun Titan. Another card I haven't been impressed with lately is Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed do you have any other suggestion?
Hope Black Jack comes back reloaded... it's sad to see such a very good primer go to the retired section
I've been planning on removing Necropotence completely from the list since it draws a lot of hate from my playgroup. Do you think Underworld Connections would be able to fill the role?
What would be other good enchantments apart from Debtors' Knell to add an enchantment package to tutor for Academy Rector? I feel he's not doing enough atm and has costed me some games when people steal it and go get Omniscience post Wrath. I really like the guy and I wanna keep him around, but if I don't find anything particularly good he's just gonna have to go
Nice deck. I had been looking for ideas of a white weenie general or something aggresive that I can stick equipments on and go to the red zone and Isamaru seems perfect. I'm gonnna give it a try to your list and then morph it according to my playgroup. Nice deck, man
I dont think Gifts is good enough. It makes a nice paring with sun titan for an infinite loop, but in EDH there are far to many ways to deal with it and while you might manage to lock one person out with yosie, the others will be finding an answer for it ready for the moment you think to look at them.
I think Gifts is an auto-include, there are just too many sinergies you can find for it that go beyond the infinite loop with Sun Titan. As someone said in a previous post, you can lock people down with Yosei, do a lot of dmg and gain a lot of lifes with Kokusho and other things that have not come out in my testing with it yet. The better part of it is that it only costs 3 mana.
I'm very sad BlackJack hasn't updated this in a while, I hope he comes back to discuss more about new cards and sinergies hes been able to find in this time.
I'd say take a fatty out for Karn Liberated. He is SOOO good in mono Green/Black decks which have holes in their removal spectrums. Another one, which will help out with wraths, is Creeping Renaissance. Pulls all creatures out of the grave to your hand twice (and it is more flexible than that).
Also, swap Druid Lyrist for Elvish Lyrist. $0.25 gets you the same thing but an elf for more Priest mana and Rebecca Guay art. Happy building and such.
I once thought about running Karn, but then I forgot and now you made it come back to my mind. I think I will give it a try and see how it works.
Creeping Renaissance is a card I tested for a while until I got a Praetors Counsel which I think is better. It is not reusable, but the times you get to use it is devastating.
Slate is something I haven't had the chance to get one, as soon as I get it I think I'm gonna cut the Garruk's Horde, since it's been underperforming.
And about the Lyrist, I think the Druid is better because is a more consistent mana source than the elvish one, because you only get to add mana if you have the priest on play.
Well, I'm just getting started on EDH since the people from my local store decided to run a league. The level is not that high, but no infinite combos are allowed.
I've always liked casting big fatties so green was the color to start with and seeking for a general wasn't that easy since I wanted it to be original and that it could help me with my goal of overruning the board so I inclined for Seton since it is underplayed and helps a lot with ramping.
The deck is not based on a tribal aspect, Seton is only there to help me generate ridiculous ammounts of mana. After some turns, it doesn't really rely on the general, since the momentum that the deck can generate at the beggining of the game is almost always enough to start casting fatties. Being that said, the deck currently suffers a lot when opponents kill the little druids to start getting ahead, but I think that's true for most creatured based ramping decks. Without further ado, here's the decklist.
These are the cards I currently trying to get. I abandoned this deck a while ago, but now I'm trying to complete the deck I originally had in cockatrice.

The deck works well in most encounters, only struggling against repeated sweepers. It has the potential to come back from one really well and has some explosive starts. I decided not to run any combos with Cloudstone Curio since I want this deck to be straight based on killing with damage, that's why I didn't add Triumph of the Hordes either, since it works as a 1-card combo that usually takes some opponents away of the game when played. I would like some advice on what to take away for the cards I'd like to include and other suggestions I'm not seeing.
Thanks in advance.
