Since the Conspiracy launch, I'm having to weigh continuing this project vs. creating a draft sim of Conspiracy. I think if I could cut this to 360, I might be apt to go with this. However, that is looking like a daunting task. Is there any way to use Cube Tutor or another resource to find cubes with the most similarity?
This is a rough draft of a cube that runs from M13 forward. [M13, Return to Ravnica, Gatecrash, Dragon's Maze, M14, Theros, Born of the Gods, Journey to Nyx]
As of right now, the list does not include planeswalkers or gods. This is likely to stay the same.
I'm interested in as much feedback as possible. I can cut this down to 360, but I wouldn't even know where to start. The curves might be goofed up as well, but they stand near to 3.xx. There might be too much fixing, too much focus on gold cards, etc. It's an open book.
Just to follow up on my earlier post, the larger "100+ Pro Deck Box" boxes from Ultra Pro fit as a pair in a fat pack box. However, the amount of room left over is slim. I think it feels like you could fit about 25 sleeved cards in between comfortably. Room for tokens or miscellaneous cards, but that's about it.
If you like modular storage, however, it is hard to beat this type of setup.
1 - For anyone going the "three decks in a fat pack box" route, the dividers that came with last year's holiday gift set (and are supposed to come in this year's set) are great for protecting your cards from the inside lid. They serve the same function as the top loaders from the original post in this thread, but they are the perfect size and feature artwork, if that's your thing. They are much more rigid than any other "deck divider" I have seen.
2 - Does anyone know how much space would be left over after putting two of the Ultra Pro 100+ Pro Deck Boxes in a fat pack box? I used to have a couple of the old Pro Deck Boxes from the initial run where they only had black, but it seems like these 100+ versions might be a bit bigger. Or, since someone posted this above, how much room is left over after putting two of the two-piece hard shell boxes in a fat pack box (like the Dragon Shields boxes, for example)? I didn't know that these would fit.
After pondering and tinkering with a UR Mass Polymorph idea, I arrived at the following list. It is actually not a horrible mess, even if it seems to be at times. Sometimes it just runs token beats, sometimes it combos, and sometimes it just sits back for a Burn at the Stake win.
Questions:
If we were to keep it somewhat budget, what can we do to optimize the list?
If we were to go beyond budget, is there any reason to go UR vs. some other Polymorph build?
I have a rough sideboard, but I'm not worried about that right now. Obviously things like Guildgates and Incinerates make this list look rough, but it is spot filler on MTGO for now.
Does anyone know how many double sleeved cards fit in a standard "modern" fat pack box? Assuming 300 single sleeved cards fit, I guess. After seeing a drink take out some cards tonight, I'm definitely seeing the wisdom of double sleeves.
Thanks for the feedback. The saturation and multiples for the Burning Vengeance type decks would be taken care of via multiples of cards, but I see where you are coming from. It would also include cards like Guttersnipe, I would assume.
I never played limited with devour, so I'm not as up on it as I could be. I could easily shift bloodthirst to RG and then move something into RB in its place.
I would like to keep it in the Modern card pool and avoid using cards from the actual Modern Masters set, which will require a bit of creative footwork. I'll keep an eye out for the full list, as it seems to be similar in overall concept.
I've seen some great things done with recreating Modern Masters draft with the "custom draft set" style of cube (multiples of commons/uncommons, singleton rares). It has got me thinking about creating a sort of "Modern Masters 2" that centers around mechanics and cards not featured in the actual set. The problem would be getting enough mechanics that have the overlap that the actual Modern Masters set has. Does it seem like a possibility? It seems like Modern Masters is boosted a lot by tribal interactions, so it might not work out without going tribal.
I searched around a bit and could not find something that matches this idea exactly, although it is admittedly a hybrid of many ideas. After seeing a lot of green ramp decks popping up (think Arbor Elf and mana doublers), I was curious as to whether such mana could be put to use casting green's higher-CMC land destruction spells. It seems like if you could get to a point early in the game where you could cast a couple of spells in one turn, you could effectively lock out any land.
I updated the list. I'm still pursuing the Ruination plan, hence all the basic lands. I'm also trying out Nevinyrral's Disk, so I removed a lot of the mana rocks in favor of more land based fixing/ramp. I have yet to try it this way, but it could invite cards like Shatterstorm if it works.
I've found that you really have to ride the table, but the deck has been amazingly solid lately. Sometimes you seal the deal with Repercussion in a big way. That's always satisfying.
Outside of bigger "staples," am I missing anything glaring? I'm still not sure I can bring myself to buy another Demonic Tutor. It always feels boring to me. It would increase consistency, but I'm not sure I want to turn this into "RepercussionCombo.dec." Also, while Damnation is better in most cases than the other sweepers I have, I feel that in a deck with Repercussion, you need to err on the side of damage based sweepers.
I'm trying to go "big mana" and work towards controlling the board and then ending with some sort of mass kill spell or a finisher-type creature.
I might streamline another deck I have and bring some of its pieces over (say, a Karn, Liberated or Stranglehold).
Main advice I'm looking for revolves around any glaring omissions or synergies that I am missing.
NOTE: A few cards I'm not running for various reasons include Demonic Tutor (or most tutors), Damnation, most non-basic lands, etc. Some of this is "budget," some is a need for variety between decks, and some is strategy related (Ruination, for example).
This deck is very much a rough draft that was born out of cards found in my old pauper cube and random synergistic (and cheap!) foils. Some cards were inspired by Dosu's "dreamcrusher" list.
I have only had the chance to play it a few times, but it is definitely in need of some balance. I'm hoping to get a few ideas for new synergies, card proportions, etc.
A few notes about this "cube": (1) some key cards may be missing because I recently raided my former cube for EDH (this means some "no-brainers" might be missing for now), (2) this is meant to be used for Winston drafting (among other things) and fit in a single Fat Pack/Deckbuilder's Toolkit box, and (3) I am very much in the prototype stage, so I'm looking for feedback.
Some design philosophy:
- This is a pauper cube, more or less determined by paper printings.
- I attempted to restrict cards to a single colored mana in their printed cost to encourage flexibility in deck building (though this might encourage greedy drafting).
- I plan on occasionally using this for a mini-big box format (which is an oxymoron). This means no-multicolor cards (I'm using a 32/32/32/32/32/20 split right now).
- This cube will primarily be used for things like Winston drafting, "Pack Wars," etc. (and thus does not be need optimized for "traditional" drafting).
In reference to the Ultra Pro Matte sleeves: I have had this problem with inconsistent sizing for a while now. At one point I was going to sleeve all of my EDH cards in a single type, but six packs in I have at least two noticeable sizes of sleeves, even though they are all marked as the "new" sleeve size. So, I gave up on that.
I have never tried double sleeving, but I may buy some foil basics for my EDH decks soon, and if I'm going to spend the money I might as well keep them looking their best.

Also, while Damnation is better in most cases than the other sweepers I have, I feel that in a deck with Repercussion, you need to err on the side of damage based sweepers.
I'm trying to go "big mana" and work towards controlling the board and then ending with some sort of mass kill spell or a finisher-type creature.
I might streamline another deck I have and bring some of its pieces over (say, a Karn, Liberated or Stranglehold).
Main advice I'm looking for revolves around any glaring omissions or synergies that I am missing.
NOTE: A few cards I'm not running for various reasons include Demonic Tutor (or most tutors), Damnation, most non-basic lands, etc. Some of this is "budget," some is a need for variety between decks, and some is strategy related (Ruination, for example).
I have only had the chance to play it a few times, but it is definitely in need of some balance. I'm hoping to get a few ideas for new synergies, card proportions, etc.

Some design philosophy:
- This is a pauper cube, more or less determined by paper printings.
- I attempted to restrict cards to a single colored mana in their printed cost to encourage flexibility in deck building (though this might encourage greedy drafting).
- I plan on occasionally using this for a mini-big box format (which is an oxymoron). This means no-multicolor cards (I'm using a 32/32/32/32/32/20 split right now).
- This cube will primarily be used for things like Winston drafting, "Pack Wars," etc. (and thus does not be need optimized for "traditional" drafting).

I have never tried double sleeving, but I may buy some foil basics for my EDH decks soon, and if I'm going to spend the money I might as well keep them looking their best.
Two questions:
How many double sleeved cards fit in a fat pack box/tool kit/300 count box? I'm assuming roughly 200 (since they fit 300 in regular sleeves), but I don't know for sure.
Once you have double sleeved, is it reasonable to slip cards in and out of the outer sleeves? For example, would it make sense to sleeve all of my EDH cards in perfect fits and then sleeve only the 100 I need at a time in outer sleeves?
