With the new changes to the legendary rule, I feel like Vorinclex might be tricky to run. If one of your opponents copies him, it could blow up in your face. What about Prophet of Kruphix or Sylvan Primordial?
or if you just want a mana sink after you've ramped like crazy, there's Omniscience. I run Omniscience along-side Leyline of Anticipation and it gets a little bonkers.
Emeria Angel — OK it's not a soldier, but the Landfall effect helps you build an army to trigger Odric's ability.
Frontline Medic — since you're basically going for the Battalion effect, this guy's trigger should come in handy. Especially if you're going to run a board wipe like Martial Coup afterwards.
Silverblade Paladin — Since you'll (hopefully) be choosing how combat resolves, why not give your commander double-strike?
Door of Destinies — essentially Coat of Arms for (1) less and with a little less math. Also only buffs your own dudes, not your opponents if they happen to also be running a tribal.
Sword of Vengeance — Nice way of giving your dudes haste and trample, which you don't usually see in white.
Sword of Kaldra — Buffs Odric pretty nicely and acts as spot removal for trickier creatures to get rid of, like Ulamog or Sigarda.
Batterskull — While you're going for commander damage, might as well throw in this staple. Living weapon is the key here, as it can be another attacker to help trigger Odric's ability, and also makes a nice buff for Odric himself. Vengeance is always nice.
More room for art and text is always a good thing.
The new typeface for the card name looks similar enough to the previous one (Matrix Bold). It does feel unique, with that stem on the F dropping below the baseline, and I'm sure we'll all get used to it quick enough. It's a bit of an odd change, but I suppose having a proprietary font like this is one more anti-counterfeiting device. It's still a VAST improvement over the unreadable font they used to use.
Not sure how I feel about the holofoil stamp. On the one hand I understand why they did it (anti-counterfeit device) and it also kind of makes these cards feel more like the Upper Deck cards I used to collect when I was a kid, with those cool holofoil markers on them. On the other hand, I can see why artists who do alters would be hindered by this. Being merely a player and not an artist, I don't mind the stamps. It'll make rares and mythics feel a little bit cooler, I think.
The card information at the bottom is a neat feature.
That asymmetrical, rounded black border, though? It just doesn't sit well with me. We'll all get used to it in time and we might eventually think that the current black border looks stupid, but this new border looks friggin weird. It might look pretty cool on white cards, but it just looks too "postmodern" for me.
I'm looking for some high resolution Photoshop templates for making some modern-framed alternates, and I tried downloading Zeerbe's templates from the first page but Mediafire says it can't be found. Where can I find the templates that everyone seems to be using?
I never thought about the fact that you could use him with Trinket Mage. That's pretty cool. However, I prefer that the creatures that I'm using with The Mimeoplasm have some kind of additional benefit besides just being a big body. Certainly Phyrexian Dreadnought and Death's Shadow can provide a huge body at a cheap cost, but for the most part their usefulness ends there. They're not useful to reanimate or to attack with. They don't have any useful ETB effects so I just feel like they would be dead cards too often.
Yeah I guess his use is somewhat limited, but the fact you can tutor for him with Trinket Mage is pretty cool, I think. In a creature-heavy deck it would probably be worth including. It's a decent sac outlet for Kokusho, Genesis, Terastodon, especially if you've got a Mimic Vat on the field. Its 12 +1/+1 counters could end the game quickly, and it's got Trample so it doesn't make a bad body.
Maybe somebody out there could come up with some crazy combo using this thing.
I was actually coming back to ask your opinions on including Phyrexian Dreadnought in your build, since you're running Trinket Mage. The Dreadnought could be tutored up by Trinket Mage then played to either go straight in the graveyard, or as a sac outlet for some of your other creatures, taking advantage of Grave Pact effects. If you let him go straight to your grave then he could be used for his 12 +1/+1 counters when you cast Mime.
If budget isn't an option you will notice all of us run Survival of the Fittest for that purpose. LoL troll is just too slow either way to be honest. Unless your Mime list has a massive creature list I doubt it will make an impact.
Yeah, you're right. I was just looking at a body with regenerate and discard outlet with trample and thought it would be a good body to dredge up with Mimeoplasm and stick 13 counters on it with Death's Shadow. I suppose other than that it's not all that great.
Looking at some iffy creatures on my deck list, and I'm wondering if there's room for Lotleth Troll or Death's Shadow. Surprised not many people run Lotleth Troll in their Mimeoplasm lists...
Really what I came here for was your guys impression on the new Simic Guildmage? Shrinking Mimeo to draw some cards seems sweet and I was curious if I was the only one.
Think you're talking about Zameck Guildmage. And yes, he's totally abusable when combo'd with Lorescale Coatl, Corpsejack Menace or even the new Simic Fluxmage.
Personally, I'm pretty excited about Consuming Aberration, Lazav, Dimir Mastermind, and to an extent: Duskmantle Guildmage.
Apologies if this has been posted before, but the Search function on this site has been broken for days...
I've been considering Leyline of the Void for an EDH deck I'm working on, but I'm wondering how specifically it interacts with a bunch of other effects:
Vengeful Dead — this one seems obvious: cards opponents control won't even hit the graveyard, so this effect is ignored.
Murder of Crows / Harvester of Souls / Blood Artist / Falkenrath Noble — I read in the rules that the keyword "dies" means that the creature has to hit the graveyard. So will the effects of these listed cards be ignored since the creatures don't go to the graveyard?
or if you just want a mana sink after you've ramped like crazy, there's Omniscience. I run Omniscience along-side Leyline of Anticipation and it gets a little bonkers.
Darien, King of Kjeldor — Nice way of preventing people from attacking you, otherwise you get a ton of soldiers.
Ranger of Eos — Tutor and card advantage.
Stoneforge Mystic / Stonehewer Giant — equipment tutors
Door of Destinies — essentially Coat of Arms for (1) less and with a little less math. Also only buffs your own dudes, not your opponents if they happen to also be running a tribal.
Sword of Vengeance — Nice way of giving your dudes haste and trample, which you don't usually see in white.

Elspeth, Knight-Errant, Elspeth, Sun's Champion — Puts soldiers on the battlefield, and if you can get off her ultimate (either one of them) then you're in great shape
Aura of Silence — spot removal and slows down opponents.
Ghostly Prison — pillow fort!
Ghostway / Faith's Reward — protection against sweepers. Ghostway comes in particularly handy against weird removal like Cyclonic Rift, Living Death and Living End.
Swords to Plowshares / Path to Exile — staple white removal, surprised not to see these in here already!
Windbrisk Heights — synergy with Odric's ability.

Perhaps the fact that Death's Shadow and Phyrexian Dreadnought almost always die upon entry, a deck could be built abusing Grave Pact or Harvester of Souls effects, or just straight up discard.
