I can see how Fall of the Hammer can take out a big x/4 or x/6 creature, but you're going to need a big creature on your side too to make it work, why not just max out on Lightning Strikes/Magma Jets instead? same problem I have with the Ordeal, you need a creature to make it work
won't Eidolon of the Great Revel hurt you just as bad as it hurts the storm player? Is there no better option vs storm? if only Grapeshot were an instant...
would the card draw side from Beck // Call be a useful thing here? Haven't tested yet, but how much mana can Axebane Guardian generate? (to safely cast UG + the strived Twinflame mana, that is)
^ the Legion Loyalists might be OK, been considering those or Rakdos Cackler to fill up the very important but very dry 1cc spot - the rest need to become cowbells though
why do some lists run only 1 Faith's Reward and rely instead on the 4ww of Open the Vaults? Isn't the big combo turn the same one you would want to use Faith's Reward anyway?
been playing around with the defender concept(s)since Innistrad to know that the "combo" is never stable (with the lack of card draw/filtering) and is never truly safe unless you pack too many counterspells (which dilutes the gameplan). Still, all I see now are cards with redundancies and this makes me happy - I'll get a few cards in over the weekend and try a config or two...
was visiting another thread (re: Biovisionary combo, was thinking that deck needed more Axebane Guardians, then I come here, and now I see this deck needs more Biovisionaries!)
so why not cram two bad combos and create an entirely new deck?!
the 2 Remands seemed a bit chancey (playing it for the extra draw with a bonus counterspell?), that said, if I were to try this route, I would just 4-of on the Remands or Thirsts, swap 1 or 2 Emrakuls for Banefire/Grapeshot, and swap the Tendo Ice Bridge for more Adarkar Wastes. Like I said, the Tezz is the only thing I find 'cool' here, might try 1 or 2 just to see how many 5/5's I can muster up
anyone considered Vent Sentinel ?
a bit high on the CC (3R), but is a good source of repeatable damage over a few turns (and if infinite mana is online, so is the damage)
