A 5/5 indestructible for 2U would be broken, even with the devotion restriction... This plus the other abilities.... Actually a 5/5 indestructible with any CMC is OP

    so Phylactery Lich then?

I think that would depend greatly on two things:
    1) What the plan for rare lands is for 2014. Do they stay with check lands or do they move onto a different land type.
    2) What lands do they print in Theros block and beyond.

Having 3cmc walker with just one colorless can be made increasingly more difficult of the lands can't reliably come into play untapped so with shocks lands counting as two land types it makes the fixing for this kind of thing easier. If you need more proof look at the greedy mana bases in standard currently.

When Unlimited and Cronicles came out, there were **** storms. Massive, massive **** storms. Because there are MTG players out there who have actually taken an economics class.

It's actually because the people pitching fits are entitled jerks who think things like supply and demand and value dont apply to the cards they own. Of course I'm one of those people who would rather everyone have all the cards just to take the sharky/caddishness down several notches.

Quite interesting. I think Wizards should be impressed if they get people to play mill. (And I'll be doubly happy to hear people stop complaining about how much mill sucks and shouldn't be in the game.)

Its not that impressive. They've given mill more viability considering that they added a damage component to it. This just make mill out of the alternative win condition group.

They could have done the same thing by making a card that made a player lose life equal to twice the amount of poison counters.

  • posted a message on Rules against drinking
Once at a tournament I was concerned that two particular players were going to try and get us DQ'd from a 2HG side event. One of the players in question was drunk (you could smell it and he had been drinking prior to the event by his own admission). A friend of mine (a level 2 judge) told me that if they said anything just tell the judge that he was drunk and he would be DQ'd because its against the rules at a DCI sanctioned even. Can anyone site the exact rule for this as I couldnt find it myself?

Here was a weird interaction that I want to make sure was actually legal.

Player 1 casts burn at the stake and announces they want to keep priority and also casts infernal plunge. There are 5 creatures on the board untapped.

Does player 1 get to tap those creatures for 18 damage and sacrifice one for an additional 3 mana.

I watched someone attempt to do this and thought it was wierd since both are an additional cost to cast the spell. Since they are both costs does the interaction happen as i described it.

This was in response to a mana leak which is why the 3 mana was relevant.

The life gain sucks for sure. I've played against this and it is a freaking race.

The difference for me came down to one damage after he gained 10 life off two thragtusks, so I did 29 damage over the course of the game.

My suggestion is to play more mental misteps against this deck. Slow down the ramp from birds and elves.

Secondly and this is a huge gamble, but torpor orb. It kills your casters and angels for sure, but the life gain is so brutal that its almost worth it. I'd say you could board in orb, tamiyo, and gideon to offset the loss and change the deck to a more rock style deck.

    Mono green.

Thragtusk and hexproof guys are a beating.

Birds + elves to help ramp. You also have access to naturalize and crippling vines.

As it's a trigger, you won't get a penalty. This was part of the recent change with lapsing triggers - you do not get warnings for failing to point out your opponents missed triggers (you are not even required to do so). You can point them out if you want them to happen (obligatory: "call a judge" goes here)

Talking at Competitive and Professional levels of course, this does not apply to FNM where you are still required to point out triggers.

Its extremely hard switching between nice guy FNM magic player to REL competitive player and keeping these rules straight. In these cases at FNM we usually just let the players do-over if both agree. Although our shop tries to play as competitive as possible.

I think that if an agreement between players happens in the fashion of the above mentioned issue its probably fine as both players agreed to the outcome.

He has to declare the card as snapcaster enters the battlefield. A judge would have just told him that if he didnt declare after snapcaster resolved and entered the battlefield that it targeted nothing and he couldnt cast it for 2U.

Sorry. Gain used in the pejorative. I mean what would the ruling be. Thanks for the ruling and clarification.

Who is doing the shuffling? Its your responsibility to make sure that you are shuffling in a way that keeps your cards from being revealed to your opponent, right? If they are shuffling and flip cards over or peak at them its a no-no. Can exsam explain what you would gain or hope to gain from this type of call?

Just so i make sure i understand. The car gives you a buffer of X damage regardless of when that damage is dealt if the target is legal when the spell resolves.

If you target a creature, x=10, you take 3 damage from a bolt but its enough to kill the creature. it prevents that 3 and kills the creature. You still would have 7 damage that would be prevented, just no damage dealt to the creature since it would be dead?

I'll take this in a different direction. Play him in RG ramp.
Play him whenever you can during the game and leave him unbonded until you drop p titan and go get 4 lands. Drop I titan on him and face/divide 6 + 6 swing.

Each of those options are very large swings.

Long story short drop any titan (frost is the worst) on him and make life miserable for someone else.
